I'm about to re-power and will soon have a 1992 Mercury 2-stroke 60hp for sale. It works fine no issues. Don't know the hours. Never sold an outboard before and cant see one like mine on trademe so thought I'd ask here what you would expect to pay for a working one ? Ballpark figures just to give me a rough idea would be great. May end up trading it in at the boat mechanic's so would like to know what's reasonable. |

99% of motors and boats on trade me are way over priced.. hence why most have been listed for many months. A good motor, fairly priced in low to mid range of fair price will move within 2 to 3 weeks or listings 3 examples .. our boat fairly priced good condition just needed a little tidy up.. moved on 2nd listing when we brought... after watching for near on a yr. When we sold our motor (off the above boat).. sold , unseen, on 2nd listing .. for buy now price The motor we replaced it with, we brought on 2nd listing unseen....fairly priced. Add new listings for out boards to your favourites and email daly....watch list stuff of interest... note in your missed sales what sells and doesnt. Price accordingly. Rem it only worth what the buyer is prepared to pay... not what it may owe you. |

It's a 26 year old two stroke 60. While it may still go well, it's of an age where a buyer is tossing the dice at least in his mind. If you want to sell it list it for $500 auction. If you want to get what you think it's worth then list it for what you wish and wait like everyone else on trademe. Seen some boats on there for years. |

Yep agree with OWT above..recon he nails it. Think about who the market/ buy is most likely to be. Doubt if can be used as a trade in limited market Would like to get little more than the scrape value. A start 500 no reserve, maybe a buy now 650 (??) |

At that age it could break to an uneconomic to repair level any day. That's what happened to my 1991 115 Yammy that I thought was well maintained and running well. I got $500 as a trade on a new merc 4 stroke. The new motor is so amazing I now realise how crap the old one was. Probably best to take $500 or a grand for it as a trade. If you sell it pivately the person buying it wont be rich and it could break down on them any day. |

It was around that time, cant rem when, outboard powere rating went from the flywheel to the prop....a good 10/15% could be easy lost in the transmission /gearbox etc .. So a 115 at the flywheel may only have been 75/ 100 at the prop. |
