| What do you look for in a jigging rod. I have never jigged or softbated before but looking to try while the family are bate fishing from small boat. we fish in the Thames in about 10m deep what size rod do you recommend. I went to the local tackle shop and they only had 1 setup there so couldn't compare against another brand. |

Hey Murray, probably need to figure out what you want to target, I'm guessing snapper if your fishing in 10m. Also if your fishing on the anchor it's going to restrict what methods of jigging will work. But you could try softbaiting or micro jigging by casting away from the boat and working the lure back to you. BUT almost all jigging or softbaiting techniques are best done from a drifting boat. You could always get the rest of your crew into jigging too,get rid of the old smelly bait😄👍 ------------- Tight lines PE Pete |

| As Pete says, I think soft baiting is the best option in shallow water, and fishing on the drift would be better. Worth a go though, I've heard of people catching snapper on soft baits in a berley trail, but never done it myself. Any standard soft baiting outfit that all the shops sell would be fine. |

softbaiting works well on the mussel farms at anchor, i have cleaned up the bait boys doing it whilst on a charter(they couldnt believe it, haha) micro jigs also work well and you can use your softbait rod / reel combo to fish them. Make sure you use light micro jigs though, 15-30g at most. Lots of fun and they definately work -------------  www.kavemantackle.co.nz
