Hi, First challenge of 2017... right when I need to tow some distance. Hooked up trailer and checked lights. On checking, left indicator had stopped. Traced it back to the socket on the car. No voltage on the indicator pins. brake lights and tail lights are fine. Looked at trailer plug and had a couple of loose wires crossing all over the place. Fixed that and now no indicators work. Brake and tail lights still fine. And the challenge... the indicators on the car work just fine. Did a bit of a google. Suggestions that the prado (mines a 2001, 95 series) with factory wired trailer socket has a separate fuse/fuses for the trailer socket. But the fuse is apparently a hidden secret and not labeled. My next plan of attack it to check every fuse I can see. But hoping someone might be able to offer some insight/previous experience. | BB , Is there power coming from the wires leading to the back of the plug? you will need a test lite to see if there is. seems weird that they have just given up the ghost. I doubt they would have their own fuse. They will just run off the main indicator fuse. RIng me if you have any more problems and i will give you some tips 027 290 9645 |

Hi edge01, thanks a lot for replying and the offer of help. REALLY appreciate it. But I have just solved it. I found the following thread on the web. http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?22535-Trailer-Indicators-Fuse I found another couple like it too. They seem to point to a special fuse for trailer indicators if the trailer socket was factory fitted. Weird. The engine bay fuse box picture the guy shows is a different model to mine but I found a fuse in an unlabelled slot and it was blown. Odd thing is I swapped out my radio fuse into that slot and retested last night and it didn't work. This morning I got to repco and got some fuses and replaced the unknown blown fuse while leaving the radio fuse in. I pulled every fuse and checked it, Retested and it worked!! Doesn't make sense. I could pull that fuse and see if it stops but right now, I ain't touching a thing  But when I'm back from holidays I'll check. I'd like to know what's going on. | You can get female car/trailer plugs which have a row of indicator lights above each socket.Light up when power is getting to the socket. Makes it a bit easier. |

12v and other low voltage systems are very prone to suffering from poor connections. Puling out and putting a connector back will often fix problems. Spray the contacts with CRC 2-26 or similar ------------- Best gurnard fisherman in my street |

And a small screw drive to re open the male split pins. I have duel wired my trailer down each side and across the back....one trailer circuit fails, still power from the other... so if a light doesnt work its either the light or the light holder or the plugs. A quick spray of plugs, along with wheel nuts trailer rollers, duck board hinges, few bits and pieces around the boat after every trip when dried out....never had a plug issue either side. your fuse issue may secondary due to the description inside your plug "Looked at trailer plug and had a couple of loose wires crossing all over the place.
