Samoa, a great rugby nation. Now if Samoa had all their Samoan players and NZ only had 2nd generation Kiwis (or earlier) it would be a very worrying game for the AB's. BUT because we steal all their best guys I'm afraid it's going to be a drubbing. 36 for the boys in black and only 10 for the KFC's. But they will play from the heart and it's going to be a great game regardless of the outcome. Dig deep Samoa and play with pride!

Crikey! Weren't the AB's devastating? Some amazing rugby. Good clean game but man the Samoans had their work cut out. 78 zip. But great work Samoa, you played with pride. Going to be so satisfying to see the Lions get caned

As expected we were a bit rusty for awhile but hit our straps in the second half. To be fair the Samoans were well beaten once we got going and the Brits will be a different proposition - hopefully!! BUT what about some of those skills. Only time our Brittish visitors would have experienced that level of x factor would have been??? Oh yeah...the last time they toured here.

The MAb's play together less than the Lions I'm guessing, The Lions are hitting their straps. Hope I'm wrong but the Lions need to send the smae message to the AB's that the the Ab's sent to them last night. If they can't beat the MAB's they are going to be absolutely hammered when it comes to the top games

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think it's gonna be pretty. The Lions will play a structured/traditional game and try to squeeze the breath out of the Maori team. Looking forward to next week and the conflicting styles. And hoping like hell the ref doesn't become the talking point for the wrong reasons.

Looks like the Lion's stepped it up a notch but 54 minutes to score a try won't be good enough when taking on the Allblacks.

With All that territory/possession and front foot ball the lions only managed two tries and one of them was a penalty try....None from the back line......They have a weak attack in my eyes in the backline......They will compete up front....kick their goals and have some tactical side to them but they will be dominated by the backs and a fast paced game........45 v 10. As for the aussies...always the same......their commentators love to talk their players up all the time but the reality is they are very one dimensional.....Genia looked slow....foley played well as did fall owe and hooper.....they are missing pocock and not playing intelligent rugby..........The scots didnt go too over board or try anything too flash.....kept the pressure on and waited for the aussies to make mistakes and simply capitalized on them.....The Scots have had plenty of close games with the aussies before and totally deserved their win........just another game with the aussies being over confident ....whilst not playing that well anyway.

I think this will be the closest test of the series. The Lions have identified the type of game they want to play and are executing the game plan well. The All Blacks have more class but will need one game at least to counter the boredom that is Brittish rugby.
So the Lions will come out and will be as exciting as Geoff Boycott was with a cricket bat and ABs will struggle to create space, but will still have enough class to sneak through.
AB 19 Lions 12

|

I think it will be closer than we might like. The AB's have the better overall game however the Lions are pretty solid on all the boring basics and good at stifling any flair. AB's by 7 points and BIL a multiple of 3.
|
Posted By: Foxtrot Oscar

I think the Lions were a lot more competitive than the score indicated - and they scored one of the great tries. You old buggars will remember the Babas in 1973 when Phil Bennet, John Dawes and Gareth Edwards were involved in a similar try.
Why did they sub Te'o. And they should have started Itoje and Lawes.
Looking forward to be to week.

I was at that game.(the old cardiff arms park)...was 9 years old...First few minutes of the game.....all i saw at the end was Gareth edwards feet go flying through the air !...phil bennets side steps were awesome....the crowd went mental. That to me was the best try of all time.......whenever i watch it with cliff morgans commentary it makes my hairs stand on end........I lived down the road from cliff Morgan in Cardiff....he was not supposed to commentate on that game.....was to be Bill Mcclaren i think but he was sick....so cliff Morgan stepped in......There were some great welsh players of the day in that side and some real nz characters in the all blacks...Sid going...grant batty...Alex wylie....Joe karem....brian williams....I have that game on DVD......3 or 4 head removing high tackles on JPR williams in that game too.

Yeah may be it's a cunning plan so the players get left alone. Or may be the Gatland - Hansen sideshow is more intriguing. Hardcase when you think Dalton wasn't seen until the end of the cup campaign - which may be wasn't a bad thing.
