Going by the comments, not much sympathy for Kelly Aldridge.

First the scallops, now the blue cod. What will be next. This will go down as the year of fishery closures. Should serve as a warning that our fisheries are not infinite .

Also very interesting article on tagged blue cod traveling up to 500 km. Until now they have thought they were resident fish that did not move around much.

How little we know about fish.

Think thats the issue to cirrus, we know nothing about what really happens down there in the grand scheme. It still amazes me how people are concerned about monatary income over whiping the floor clean of a species.

I heard from a very experienced comm that the Hoki fishery is being screwed.  And that is one that should be easily protected as there are no conflicting parties involved?

How could it be be screwed..best practice methods, fast growing species ...they should  just d more trawls to catch the shortfall ....

Honestly ..just let them take it all and then they don't have a job..one way to sort it out
