How did it go, for us more mallards this year (15) less parries (23), weather was kind, thick fog until mid morning.

Cheers

7 mallards for two of us. Not many flying and reports around my area of kaipara were v/poor. Gets worse every yr.

Another fine windless opening in the Manawatu. My son and I did ok Saturday morning but didn't even pull the trigger today.
Still it's not all about the ducks. Fishing and hunting time with the kids away from the electronics is priceless!

First time in 20 years for me duck shooting, bagged 20 mallards, 1 parry, and couple of canadian geese. Was good fun, but we didnt shoot anything after about 1pm on opening day. Mate was saying we got about half what they got last year, called in on some other ponds on the way out and they were also shooting half what they did last year.

We had a cracker of a shoot on the kaipara. 76 birds between the two of us.

The dog is absolutely buggered.

Our best session was just before we pulled the pin on sunday morning around 11am. Couldn't touch my barrel it was that hot.

Got a good bin of snapper in the shallow water on friday morning before setting up as well.

Good work riga, great they have a sensible limit on parries up your way, plenty of sausage meat there.

Cheers

Yeah same, only got 3 opening morning, only saw about 10 mallards up until lunch, lower Kaipara. Didn't even bother shooting Sunday

First duck hunting trip ever on Saturday, no guidance, just went and did it. Got two greys and two parries. Was feeling a bit sorry for myself, but now seems OK for a total beginner.

Yeah there are parries everywhere up on the kaipara. Gives the dog a good workout.

Most will to to salami for us. Works mint.

went for a stroll yesterday morning little local spot 5 mins north of silverdale.
River was very low and hunted in tshirt n shorts ( very different to when we were kids )

bagged a nice pheasant and 4 ducks, not bad for 7 shells spent
Pleasant afternoon all told but think will be the end of the hunting here as the landowner is subdividing... Cry
