Why would my boat pull to the right? It gets worse as speed increases. 140 evinrude will cable steering

Most boats do this due to prop walk.  The only way I know to avoid it is to fit hydraulic steering.

Under the cavitation plate and above the prop is a little anode that acts as a rudder. It is used to counteract the torque of the turning prop. That needs adjusting.

What smudge said, the anode looks like a little fin

Yea just read about steering cables snapping(scary stuff)
Will be going hydrolic as soon as possible.
The little anode is just to the left of centre how do I
Tell wich way to adjust( right or left) ? Or is it jist trial
And error.

And if the trim tab doesn't fix it, and budget doesn't allow for hydraulic steering, you should be able to get a no feedback helm unit for your existing cable set up, which will help a fair bit with driving boat.

If the boat pulls to the right (starboard) then adjust it a little so the back of the trim tab (fin)is more on the left hand (port) side. If the trim tab anode is severly corroded it won't be as effective. A little trial and error will sort it out.

if the boats pulling right, turn the little rudder to the left..

you wont need to move it much.. trial and error.

Because the outboard is like a trailer and pivots at a point, it's actually the opposite to what you think and the back of the anode should be on the side that it is pulling to. Sorry to confuse the issue but I've been through this with my old boat and took me ages to sort it because I was going the wrong way at first.

Check the tilt as well?  Bow up/down makes my boat tend to go port/stbd (or the other way, I don't know, i just get confused these days)

a boat with anything sticking up above the deck like windscreen to canopy rocket launcher can make the boat pull/lean over,
if you have a hardtop this will be your problem for sure,

when driving and the wind is slightly off to the side the wind can effect the boat handling,

its not to hard to understand, wind from say right hand side will make the boat lean away from the wind which is to the left,
so you make an adjustment to counter it by turning the steering wheel to the right bring it back to upright and going in the direction you wont,
but in the mean time the boat feels like its running away from you,
the best and only solution is trim tabs, you can now adjust it so your running true.

The more I think about it the more I doubt my own advice. I may be telling you to turn it the wrong way Embarrassed

Lethal - with my boat which has a bimini top with clears it heals over into the wind especially noticeable when the wind is coming from a bow quarter, it is a real pain at times as I do not have trim tabs, so have to shift stuff around in the boat to rebalance it.

The tap thing mentioned above is mentioned in the evinrude/ johnson owners and books and servive repair manuals.
u will be surprised at how little adjustment makes such a big difference.

The hand book also mentions that the adjustment changes at different speeds...
So choose if u need to have the boat most straight at troll, cruise or WoT.
On our boat , adjusted to cruise it pulls, a little if idling in gear or trolling, and also less so at WoT

That is what you think is happening just like i did when i extend my rocket launcher and had clears put down the side,

the old wise guy said, the wind first blows the boat over, but you alter the steering wheel to counter it, which in turn brings the boat back and now its leaning into the wind,
its true believe me that is exactly what happens,
take note the next time your out.

trim tabs are awesome, better ride in any direction less gas, why more ways to alter the boat angle in the water,
