I'm not sure if I mixed my 50/1 oil/petrol mix.
Is there a way to check this out?

Thanks.

most oils have a dye in them that colours the fuel, easiest way is take a sample of fresh unmixed fuel in a clear container, and another clear container of your current fuel, if your current is darker you can be confident its mixed
If they are the same colour, or your not 100% confident, add oil
Depending on quantity involved you may want to decanter it with equal qtys of fresh fuel to be safe
Extra oil isnt the end of the world, after all, outboard engines run double mix for run in period/10hrs, if its only a tote tank you'll use it up soon enough

If your in Wgtn im happy to "dispose" of it for you haha

I'm not sure if I mixed my 50/1 oil/petrol mix.

The only way I can see that happening is if one doesnt have a solid routine of putting the oil in then adding fuel.
The addition of fuel afterwards ensures far better mix of the 2
Adding oil after into a tank of petrol results in the oil falling to the bottom due to the higher viscosity and specific gravity.

Also good practice with tote tanks etc is always have your 2 stroke and 4 stoke fuels separate... an Always mix when refill.

Simple discipline and routine results in no risk to damaging or destroy a 2 stroke engine.. be it a $500 lawn mow or $25,000 engine

I have noticed once that if you rub premix fuel between fingers at 50:1 will be oily residue compared to straight petrol.  Try both to be sure, or add more oil as better safe than sorry.

Above is a good test if you are used to dealing with fuels. Another option we use is tip a "SMALL" amount 50mls or so onto the concrete and light it. Straight petrol will burn with next to no smoke, premix will have a distinctive black smoke.

If in doubt, it will not do any harm in your car.

I put a wrap of electrical tape on the handle when adding oil and tear it off when the tank is empty - it becomes a simple routine that is pretty much foolproof.

If in doubt, put it in the car

Petrol cans are an indispensable tool for every driver and are part of the emergency equipment of every vehicle. They help you stay on the road when your tank is empty. If your car runs out of gas, you'll be glad to have such a can on hand. http://https://autothema.de/autozubehoer/benzinkanister-test/" rel="nofollow - Benzinkanister Petrol cans are not just petrol cans, as they come in many different shapes and sizes
