hi jiggers i was wanting to know if anyone has used a talica 12 single speed  for mechanical  jigging and what there thoughts were weather they`re heavy or too slow, handles`too short or they`re great because i`m after something too jig with and maybe live baiting in mind aswell

They dont have an anti reverse bearing on the main gear, so the handle has some back play, this will drive you mad when mechanical jigging.Im not a fan of the propietry treatment used on them either as its not very robust in comparison to standard anodizing treatment. Fantastic reel for live baiting, trolling , pitchbaiting..........

Shimano range for jigging, the trini or jiggers are better.

Personally like star drags for jigging. And all the things you said.

Weight handle etc

thanks guys i did  look in to the trinidads  i thought it might be a bit light in the drag department how would it handle the odd live bait session maybe ocea jiggers the biz

Hey mate im using a talica 12 for jigging i got a 95mm arm and ball handle put on as the handle was too short the extra drag was needed last wednesday got my pb kingi 30kg plus

Hey mate, Have you used one of these? you are right about no a/r bearing but they do have 3 anti reverse dogs. all set at slightly different increments so tolerance for back play is fairly tight and most people have never even picked up on the difference between a reel with a infinite bearing and the talica with out - well done!

I've used one for 4 years and love it. I personally rate it higher than the Ocea Jigger (have had both) thats purely my opinion of the 2 not going into details as to why as they are both great just my preference to use the talica 12

Nomis, the single speeds have AR bearings, the 2 speeds don't..I have the Talica 8, 12 single and the 20 2 speed
