Just looking to spool a reel with some either 10,12, or 15lb braid, I haven't exactly decided yet. I was having a look and found some Tasline 12lb for sale. Is anyone running Tasline and how do you rate it? I have never used it so not to sure. Or is there any good (but not ridiculously priced) alternative. Will be used mostly for slow jig/slow pitch with a slight bit of softbaiting in there. Cheers Jono ------------- TAS - Its a real disease |

Jono, i have the Tasline All white series on 3 of my slow pitch and inchiku reels, 20lb and tests at 37lb(each spool has test written on it). amazing line, very soft and supple and very thin for its strength. 8 strand top quality braid Do NOT get the cheaper Tasline braid with black fleck in it, only 4 strand and didnt like it at all -------------  www.kavemantackle.co.nz

Agree with Kev,.....I think the 50 pound is really thin ...8 strand and breaks at something crazy......\I have 30 pound .....50 pound and 80 ..so cant vouch for the lower spec .....never tried the black flake one ......not all of their line is 8 strand mind ......so check before you buy it......but the 8 strand is worth it and they seem onto it.......was owned in nz before but i believe some aussie dood has it now? .sure some one will correct if i am wrong.

Tasline is actually made in NZ but yes, an Ozzie is now main distributer. Paulus of Paulus just fishing used to be the distributer but gave it away. 30lb All White series tests at 48lb 20lb tests at 37lb Pete Lamb has been selling that 4 strand line called Premium for years ------------- www.kavemantackle.co.nz

| I had pe 2.5 49lb all white braid on my light jigging set. Nice tight weave, round profile, good to jig with and doesn't have colour so won't fade but wished they made a metered version |

True...I wonder why they havent got into "Rainbow" braid.........big market for them there.,,,,but then it wont be as easy as dealing with just white.........Good value for money.......Not cheap but not as expensive as other top lines.

To clear up a few things, tasline has always been made in Nz, it used to be sold under the SAS banner in Australia. Tasline only made the SAS in breaking strains over 20lb, under 20lb was made in Asia for SAS, it was not tasline. Now Tasline has paired up with Busted Fishing to market the tasline as "Tasline Elite White" in strains 20lb and up. | Pretty sure sas said that they would never get the line made in Asia so that's interesting. Sounds like a bit of a falling out between sas/Tasline and sas/busted fishing to me |

Have read on aussie forums a lot of bad things about the tasline bust offs. Have bought a 300m spool of 8lb to try but am hesitant. Any feedback on these lighter breaking strains? Also suitable for spin and overhead presumably? Cheers

Anything under 20lb IS NOT tasline, it was made in Korea for SAS. Interestingly, majority of the issues with SAS line failures have been sub 20lb line... |

I would suggest contacting Micheal Jenkins (MJ) on this forum as I gave him a few spools as samples to try out of the new Tasline all white series- there was also a new LBG braid ,.... Makka is correct the braid under 20 lb was made in Korea for SAS braid and labeled as Tasline by Pauls Fishing in Aussie, the new owner of the agency Tasline Aussie changed the name to SAS, SAS braid in Aussie stuffed the relationship up and lost agency for the Tasline brand (over 20 lb ) which was been sold under the SAS name only. Tasline are working on making there braid under 20 lb, the only difference between the standard and all white is the silver fleck strand has been replaced by a white thread only , this was done for Pauls in Aussie for a point of difference only ------------- "It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled” Mark Twain |

Whats the difference? more strands? diameter wise how does the 20lb elite compare with the 8lb? For $30 for 300m 8lb good value regardless imo.

Well first outing this arvo was short lived. Managed about half a dozen casts (landed 1 panny) then got wrapped around the third guide during cast and snap! I thought maybe it had a bit if twist from the spool so trailed it all out on the way home and wound it back on. From the short test I thought it was pretty good. Super thin and casts a mile. Will report back once I've a bit more of a play with it.
Just adding to this it must have been a wind knot as it snapped the braid when my leader would have been through the the third guide at the start of the cast so, being so light and thin it may have been a bit more susceptible to the wind that was blowing last night. |

Been on a few more missions with this stuff now and still getting the odd tangle in the guides, but more so in the top guide so I just need to be a lot more careful when there is any slack in the line as it falls very easily around the top of the rod, more me being a manus than any criticism. I'll it again, it is super thin and cast really well when spooled quite tightly, better than if its sitting a little looser. I have had a few snaps to 40cm and a couple of good size KY give it a good stretch, and something very big that wasn't going to stop before snapping the hook, so its standing up ok with the right drag settings. I would be a bit apprehensive about using it around any shallow foul though, as when knotting it up a few times I've snapped it when brushing against the workbench under tension. |

Been using it for a season now and never got any issue with it, 40lb with +60gr lures (soft and hard). The best braid I had to use so far. |

Hey Monaco, no I'm after line int he 6-10lb rating and I can only find this stuff I'm using now. By reports here on the forum its not the top of the range stuff they make but currently its the only thing available in that weight. Would like to try the "Elite White" in the lower weight if I can find it but not sure they make it at the moment. |

Just received my Elite series order from Busted fishing, very keen to get this on a spool and give it a flick. This week would have been mint to get out there if it wasn't for pesky work! Interesting that this stuff's has the 'actual average' breaking weight printed on the label.If it is actually 14lb then its certainly going to be stronger (and thinner) than the Premium stuff I bought in November, both sold as 8lb. Will report back once I've had a good play with it.  |
