As some of you may know RAL (Real Appeal Lures) is no longer in business.
However Sam has started a new business under the name Garage Tackle. I rate Sam Morrison as the best stickbait lure maker NZ has to offer, and his lures have been fished all around the world including Oman, Australia, and parts of Asia.
RAL lures (stickbaits and Poppers) have accounted for many large fish in fact one of the boys caught a 30kg King recently on a RAL Haku lure.

If you follow the Japanese lure market you will be aware there is currently a trend for sinking and sub surface lures which have been very successful in Japan on Kingfish. For example the new Carpenter Pandora 70g, and the Hammerhead Border Deep Chaser 135g.

Sinking/sub surface lures have worked well here on kingfish like the FCL Labo CSP, Mangrove Studio Volador LS, Orion Bigfoot, Carpenter Lively Sardine,  and the Pandora 155, and of course the RAL sub surface lures.

Since day one I've always carried a sinking or sub surface lure, in case the Kingys are sitting deeper in the water column. Every lure fisherman should have one in their tackle box.

I have been given the opportunity to test the 2 new Garage Tackle -  Rise lures below.
Here's some feedback on their action.

Garage Tackle - Rise 150/80g  - Level Sinking
Level Sinking - More of a natural presentation, a lot more roll and more random in its action.
Both Level sinking and Tail sinking lures have been designed to hold a' zone' of water just below the surface and stay subsurface when worked, really quick rod work will get the lure to break the surface.

Garage Tackle Rise 150/80g Tail Sinking
Tail Sinking - Tail down and swims on the sweep with the head hunting (s) swim, side to side, quite a quick action that gets the rod tip thumping on the sweep.

We'll be using these lures over the next few months and they're also currently being used in Oman so we will post an update over the next few months on how they are holding up and more importantly what they have been catching.
