i was just looking on Jdmtackle and saw these:
http://www.jdmtackle.com/product_view.php?product_id=2455
http://www.jdmtackle.com/product_view.php?product_id=2456
http://www.jdmtackle.com/product_view.php?product_id=2457
http://www.jdmtackle.com/product_view.php?product_id=2458

does anyone know anything about them? i was thinking that for jdmtackle to stock them they must be half decent and also at a much cheaper price than the real thing.
cheers

There is a large thread about this on Facebook.

Question of ethics really, I would personally prefer to back the small businesses that own the original designs.

it is terribly disappointing to see such a blatant disregard for known and hard working brands.
Hopefully people will realise they are a blatant copy and not support them, plus they are not even that cheap

So, "handcrafted replica" in the same way that $20 Rolex from Hong Kong is a hand crafted replica then?

Would anyone here buy a bar crusher over a surtees, given one innovated and the other imitated? It's exactly the same in this instance, carpenter have spent 20 years developing and improving their lures, some ethically bankrupt knob comes along and after selling carpenter lures copies them.
I really hope all the Japanese manufacturers band together and refuse to do business with the guy.

Yea I agree with you guys, the thing which I was curious about is why jdm would stock them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on alibaba or alixpress but jdm?.. I hear the owner of jdm has lost quite a lot of customers and respect, aswell as being able to sell the real napalms and gammas.
Big discussion on the mentioned facebook page about it

They used to be...... Until the Australian agent copied all the cnc cut panels and decided they didnt like paying Surtees their dues and essentially stole his intelectual property.

Carpenter and other high end stick baits are not hand crafted, they are CNC shaped, which is good; know what you are getting everytime.

I agree with everyones comments here ...expcept for one thing.......Carpenter lures are way too expensive in the first place.........I have lures from hitter/siren etc which are just as effective and just as well built for half the price.......They are a rich mans lure.
Unfortunately......You will always get cheap knock off from asia with most stuff.......Thats life.

Round these parts they call that a perk of the job.......

Jeez that's a bit harsh tho I know plenty of Japanese and they seem straight up but I guess every team has a few players that let the side down......

Same quality paint job! More importantly, is the metalwork/ wiring etc the same quality finish and material?

Funny how people buzz about supporting the good guys. They probably don't understand how capitalism works

JDM stock them because they are behind the copies...

the JDM owner was behind the "borrowing" of Carpenter's "Ocean Revolution" brand a few years ago.  He was also the original partner of Sami Ghandour (Saltywater Tackle) before they busted up in spectacular fashion.

That must be going back a few years because he (Sami) has been with Pauli and Raymond a while
