Yep can't wait. I had an interesting discussion with a Welsh journo at last RWC - he asked me what do think of young Sam Warburton? I said at 22 it is not his time - ask me again in 4 years when he is 26, in the prime of his life and has 80 caps!

Wales play really well against a crap defence but don't have the answers against top quality opposition......Ireland could be a dark horse........Unfortunately the aussies only like to put the wallabies games on the tv over here and who wants to watch them?!!!    unless the Ab;s are playing them of course.

kicks off on the 18th September.  First squad of the year just named - a couple of new comers and a few who have been thrown lifelines and will have to step up big time.  Having said that don't expect to much in the way of change going into the RWC - no matter what the pool games look like, the final is always a hard fought encounter where we will need our old heads to take control and lead the way.  Cant wait, and man I am looking forward to the pool of death.  England, Aussie, Wales and Fiji.  Imagine the Poms and Aussies getting knocked out early - bring it on!!!!!

Artie Savea a surprise omission though. He has been one of the better flankers by far

looking forward to Wednesdays test.  Great to see the interest it has generated - I hope it lives up to expectations, although the first test of the year is usually a stop start affair.  I'm picking the first twenty minutes are going to be brutal - lets pray we get through it without any major injuries.

Good win this morning after withstanding everything the Boks threw at them.  A couple of interesting debuts - man we have some depth at first five, and what a place to start your test career.  I thought they did the right thing to drag Broadhurst at half time - but probably should give him another crack later in the competition.
Also Cody Taylor continues to show very good form for a newbie.

There's only one goal for me and that's the RWC, so I'm not gonna be to concerned if we lose a game on the way.  But we have to stop giving away stupid penalties at the wrong end of the field and copping yellow cards could cost us big time when it really matters.

Great match and the Boks were, as expected, right on their game. A couple of great tries from the AB's Macaw's was a ripper and Dane Coles running like a back - bloody brilliant. AB's probably a bit lucky to come away with the win - things to work on but loads of talent to work with.

Like the commentators said, the NZ bench was just so much stronger than the Boks. And thats why we won. To strong in the last quarter, Luck had nothing to do with it. Fekitoa went good when he came on, Sopoaga had a very good debut in the couldron that is Ellis park. A lot of decisions to be made by the coaching staff thats for sure. How bad was that pass from Dagg to Reid in the first half though. He didn't do himself any favours with that one.

The All Black V Aussie game coming up could be interesting.............It seems ages since they have played the wallabies......the game against the boks was always going to be tough ...away from home.
I predict the world cup is going to be tougher to win this time.........especially the poms at twickenham...where they go mental if they score a penalty and have babies if they score a try LOL.....I smell some upsets.

Some interesting results this weekend. Aus unbeaten in RC means they will rise possibly as high as No. 2 in IRB World rankings. SA losing to Arg may see SA drop to 5th. Ireland put Wales away with ease which bodes well for Aus in the "Pool of Death" at RWC

wales were dumb enough to put out a "B" side against an ireland "A"..............
the welsh "A" side are up at altitude getting their fitness as high as possible.........
IMHO this approach does not bode well..........they need a quality backs coach...............Gatland is a Good coach but Rob Howley sucks.......although I still think Wales will trouble the aussies if they get their act together.

The welsh are going to have to bring something special on Saturday.............a smothering game i would suggest........squash the aussies preference for a fast flowing game.......there is talk of playing 2nds because a game against the boks would be a prefer route for them anyway.......I dont fancy their chances against aussie but nobody did against england.........if welsh score early and get their danders up.......they will grow an extra leg i can tell you that.

Respectful but not nervous. These guys are too experienced to let the occasion get to them (we hope).

Can't see Scotland getting up over the Aussies, but just take minute to dream that Wales could beat the Boks and meet us in the semi's

Maybe an AB v Wallaby final - if Ireland don't get in the way ( wouldnt that be great).

Although I hate to say it Michael Cheika presents as a real person and it's not hard to see why he's managed to get the best out of the Aussies.

France is our boggie team I reckon in WCs. Hopefully Mcslaw doesnt give away anymore silly penalties and get sent off. Reminds me of the 2011 WC final minute all over again. Very nervous.

I can see the aussies being beaten by whoever, they are still not cohesive.

I reckon the ref's will be out in force for these quarters and we could see some yellows handed out pretty freely which will have a massive impact on the game(s).

i think the argies will roll the aussies in the forwards and have a good chance.

SA, who knows, can do anything on the right day, but if mcslaw doesnt crumble under pressure like his early WCs we should win easy.

that might suit the Boks,
and a recall of one of the best Lineout players in the game at 39years old will be interesting, Victor Matfield.

yet Aussie are saying they are scared of SBW before we have even played the Boks.

Looking forward to both semi's ....AB v Boks...I see it as a 50/50 game.............if the boks get a good start and start to believe in themselves they will grow an extra leg.........present form spells the All Blacks but sport is all on the day and anything is possible in the heat of battle.............I hope the Ab;s and most likely will be....
I admired the pumas last game ...its the best ive seen them play but i think that will more than likely be their biggest shot.........The aussies had their scare and they had some luck..........Too much experience and all their key players there........the argies will need to lift another level and be very accurate and i cant see that happening.

Hopefully our Men in Black are on a roll. They were bloody brilliant against France, and produced one of the most complete games in recent memory but as we know those Boks are hardy lads and are never easy.

Probably be a nail biter but the AB's have the leadership, skills and spirit to do it - I just hope they nail it.

'Twas a real test.
Brilliant opponents as always.
Drop goal, who would of thought, and we'll take it.
Go the Argies.

was a win... just .think they are kickin away too much possession in opposition territory  lots of potential points went walking specially in 1st half .also reckon nonu and sbw realy work well when on field together both draw a lot of tackles opening up gaps in opposition defence . bit hard done by getting a French ref after we just whooped france ...bitter he was givin  boks penalties left right and centre
played well against france  but the froggys didn't exactly play that well and gave up in 2nd half .
one week to go ..thin ausiies will prob beat argys so lets hope the abs can whhop them like they did at eden park in the 2nd bledisloe earlier this year

A traditional test. Edge of the seat stuff where cool heads and big defence won the day. One more game. Let's hope some of our greatest ever get sent off in the manner they so richly deserve.

Yeah go the AB's, tough game. SA's defence was epic. Was Milner-Scudder injured?  Barret is a pretty decent replacement though. AB's 30 Argentina 10 is my call for the final Big smile

Nice lethal.

So I'm almost comfortable in retracting my statements about the game and the boks.

Reason being that after watching the game this afternoon I noticed a couple of things that still seem to happen to us.

The ref, got worse as the game progressed to the point one could believe he was biased, more likely incompetent. Remember he took time to pull up his socks rather than watch the ruck cos fashion is everything to those dim witted tossers

And as much as I love the tuff opposition I'm sick of their and other teams feeling that the only way to beat us, is to cheat continuously and blatantly, cos if the ref ain't doing anything about it, it becomes blatant and acceptable.

These aspects really change the context of the match.

We were brilliant in absorbing this crap and coming justifiable for a change out on top.

Go the Argies, F off the the criminal state.

yep 13 penalties to 6, was the only way the bok's could stay in the game..

they love them selves is the impression i get from watching them Ref,
and far out i thought the second time i watched i would see our guys infringing and not the Boks, but no both sides were just as bad and some of our could not see what they were for...

America have a pretty good idea in grid iron, the coach has so many times he can object to the Ref's decision, they then check it out if the coach is wrong that is one less time he can object, if he's right he keeps his objections, you get a couple each at the start then a couple more at halve time, now that would make Ref's think twice about just blowing the bloody whistle willie-nile..
the coach would be happy that he feels like he is doing/help his team on feild at the same time keep that blower inline...

Lethal, good observations.

However, please not grid iron, those games drag on so long it seems entirely pointless to call it a game let alone sport.

Well! The springboks played the smarter game. They made sure we were penalised. They held the AB's up when it counted and had amazing defense. Heineken what'is name knew the Bokkies wouldn't score tries so he played the best defensive card of this years RWC and very nearly pulled it off. It takes a special kind of smart to almost win a game against the best attacking AND defending team in the world. Respect! AB's all the way, those Aussies are screwed! Damn the cheap supermarket beer! But i bet I will still be right when I'm sober Big smile

Great win by the AB's

was always gunna be a heck of a match.

Richie Macaw has been the most offside player for the last 15 years, that is why he is the best openside in the game, its his job to play on the edge, most times he gets away with it.

No mention of the "accidental contact" from Richie?

He was never going to get the ball carrier?

Cheers
Craig

The boks hung in that game via the boot.......all it needed was a bit of luck near the end and they could have stolen that game..........two tries to nil and the boks are in the contest...IMHO i reckon penalties/conversions.drop kicks should be worth 2 points.........2 kicks and they have recovered from a try....just doesnt seem right to me.....I thought the Ab's acted a little out of character.......true they kicked away a lot more ball than they usually do and they looked panicky in the last 10 mins as well(not a good sign)....especially Aaron smith...Pressure..but hey a lot riding on the game..........
I thought the aussies played very well against the Pumas........the complete game....excellent defence and quality tries..............It sets up a classic final and i cant wait for it to Happen.........could go ether way.....They will have to deal with Hooper/Pocock.......Folau didnt look right(Ankle)...he showed no interest in running the ball...........I still have a NZ passport .....Bloody aussies wont give the Kiwis one in a hurry.......so go the Ab's..........Enjoy the game People and let the best team win.Wink

i wish the AB luck as well, one thing i did see was the Puma's brake through the Aussies back line, you cant let that happen to the AB's cause they are likely to be gone "done and dusted"

the AB's kicked the ball i felt to stop any Bok penalties giving extra points.

i just wish both SBW and Ma'a Nomu could be on the field at once, put Conrad Smith on the bench to come out later,
2 guys that are capable of getting hands beyond the tackler into a run away situation for your back line to break free has to be a plus....

also great to see Richie is free to play, that could have been heart break Hotel..

That's a complete load of bollocks and you know it Numb Nuts - on both counts. No surprises there I guess folks, Craig's an Aussie after all!

It will be an historic game and reasonable to assume it's going to be damn tough and very close. The Men in Black have the edge, the x-factor and the leadership to get them through. Go the AB's!!!

Ask anyone except a Kiwi and see what response you get about Mr Macaw.

this game will be epic, cant wait!

Good points there lethal.Wink...............Have often found if Nonu is not having a great impact on a particular game,.....they bring on SBW and he invariably will but when he came on against the Boks.....I dont think he had such an impact in this game......but true Nonu and SBW side by side........never really thought of that.......could be awesome....something tells me the breakdown will be fierce and some big hits going on......especially against Pocock and Hooper........Kano and Mccaw id say(Much needed too)......GO THE AB"S.

It will be close, who has the most at the end will win. AB'S are up for it.

Aussie has been through a hard pool, how tough does that make you.. bloody tough up top and mongrel they would of been building that same belief that a loss is not an option.

Can't wait.
Go the AB'S
