Be happy(ish) with that  1st up away game win for the NZ based favourites.
Crusaders,a traditional poor start?
Or a taste of their now deserved "chocking" tag for end of season play offs?
Early days.

Very clear that the CRUDASERS haven't SPENT a penny on any new backs.....my guess is that Mc Caw and Carter eat up 30/40 percent of their budget.
They'll finish mid field.

Looks like most teams with home advantage blew it this weekend.
TAB must have cleaned up.

Early days all right. We've had one round and anyone who can predict the seasons outcomes has some very special powers indeed.

Chiefs were bloody impressive and will hopefully carry that form through. As for the most consistentl team in the comps history - they were horrible, showed no hunger and were by far the worst of the NZ teams - end of story., I'd be surprised if the poor form continued as I'm sure would most others.

The RWC is the bigger story this year, I'd be happy for our teams to run mid field as long as we retain that. Somehow, unless there is a complete turnaround of form and injury worries i don't see DC featuring at the business end of either competition - hopefully I'm wrong

Looks like JKs gunna have another year like last year with auckland. 3 years into a 5 year plan, when do we see some improvements.

A mixed bag for our teams. Good on the 'canes - two from two in the republic is damn fine in anyone's language. Crusaders chiefs next Saturday clashes with the Black Caps v Aussie one dayer - bugga. Chiefs may just have too much at this stage anyway. I'm picking Owen Frank's may as well book himself a fishing charter for the next few weeks, and was lucky he didn't get carded last night.

Yep,big day this Saturday Salty.
Derby at Ellerslie Race track,cricket,S15.
They better have a Sports bar at the track.
I think the Chiefs and Crusaders have had the wood on the visiting team of late.
Will be another great local S15 clash.
Although the Highlanders and Crusaders games have plenty of venom.
That Franks can be a knob at times.
He better show better discipline if he makes a World Cup squad.
Try that in a World  Cup play off and see what happens to the ABs chances.
Surly, other WC players/coaches must be planning to exploit  Franks short fuse/discipline issues.
Although most teams have/need a player like Franks in their teams.

Ain't that the truth. Chiefs very good, crusaders. - well no comment. The fresh Mahi I was having for tea was tasting great until then.

And a bit@h slapping up front in the scrums for the `saders too,no less.
And the timing of the Black Caps to have the WCC game wrapped up by 19:30.
How long is Blackadder signed up for?
When was the last time the `saders conceded that many tries?
Seems to reconfirm that Super rugby power base is still in the `swamplands` and not the `plains`in NZ.
Good times,good times people.
Keep it up on the road Chiefs.

still early days so not reading to much into the comp just yet, but it was good to see the red and black machine playing rugby at last. Didn't see the chiefs so can't comment. If you were anything like me last night, your remote would have been getting a work out between the cricket, the rugby and also the league - spoilt for choice and wrapped with the way the results went. I couldn't bear the thought of watching replays. Lets hope the dream lives on!!!

Aggggh pro rugby, reminds me of things changed for Liverpool in the football. Well known if it was based on local talent Auck still wouldnt have lost a game. ;-p

In saying that the chiefs arent totally choking without SBW.

Im a Canes secondary supporter. So Ill go home and watch rugby in the wind.

Chiefs far to good for a very average Crusaders outfit. I hope their big names lift their rating when, or is that if they pull on the black jersey.   As for Toddy he's had every opportunity but to be fair he hasn't made it click. Maybe I'll add a yellow stripe to my red and black kit - nah it''ll never get that bad.

Boy Richie looked poor. Hope hes not hoping for a WC jersey (could be 1/4 if he does).

Chiefs too good and saders too bad.

Canes still 7/7, good to get all the byes out of the way.

Chiefs robbed by TMO in 78 min.
That Canes player cannonballing the Chiefs lock knee with no arms should go for a skate.
Exciting game none the less.

That's more like it 34-20 v Bulls. Pulu was superb at halfback which creates a real selection dilemna with Weber Thumbs Up

A good result, which the Chiefs needed, and great to see that they have the depth in the team to cover the loss of key players. Well played by Ross Filipo who stepped up from club rugby to cover the locks dilemma for 70 minutes - indeed well played by the whole team but the Bulls didn't play that well so lets hope the boys don't get too ahead of themselves. Damian McKenzie has a huge future ahead of himself and must be very close to All Blacks selection. What a nuggety little player he is!
TAB account is looking a little better after that one.

Huge game next week against the Highlanders.
After the Chiefs, the Highlanders are #2 team to follow for me .(Battlers from the provinces/sort of, in the pro Rugby era)
Brilliant that indoor venue.
This is always the best part of the season for me.
High drama,drop a game,out of the play offs,love it.
Whats the stadium like in New Plymouth?
Never been there, but the grudge match against the `Canes would make a great 1st visit I guess.
Great talent sacking up at the business end of the season for the Chiefs(ABs too perhaps).
Good on you RotoVagas  for putting on a great turnout for our Boyz.

36-9 v the Highlanders is a hiding. Chiefs were disorganised, Messam's leadership was missed. Well done Highlanders, they have booked a semi spot.

Yep,if the Chiefs cannot get a bunch of their heavy hitters back asap,it`s all over.
Well done Highlanders.

Cheerz Brodie, great stats, have not lost a game when you have played this season.
So come finals time the Chiefs need a 3rd or 4th place finish on the ladder to have a home game before the SFs,right?
Maybe even a  home grand final if results go our way.
Be great not to travel out of NZ in the play offs though.(for the Chiefs fans)
Wonder if the Chiefs tactically will rest any players for the Canes game at NP?
Bet the Canes rest a few of their boys.
And why not!Bonus for topping the table, plus the bye coming up for them.
Choke time approaching for the Canes(historically speaking).
Who has done some number crunching,as in what teams need how many points to jockey themselves into the best position(excluding top 2)?
Well done Chiefs for securing a play off spot.
Cheerz.

been a hard season for we die hard Cantabs - poor start, lack of consistency - no excuses, just have to suck it up.  On the plus side a few key players showing some good form going into the international season and good to see Kieran Read back.

I thought if ever the Chiefs were going to stand up it would have ben tonight, and pre game thought they would have beaten the under strength Canes.  There's a bit of work to do before they take on the Highlanders next weekend.

Well done the Canes - yeah I have been waiting for a choke too, but the Crusaders game a side they have been fairly classy.  Hard to see them getting beaten.

Looking forward to the AB's first squad of the season being named - cant see too many surprises but will be interested in who pairs Savea on the wing and also second string halfback and fullback.  Cant see Jane or Dagg making it, but then again those struggling for game time and form have previously been given early season AB games to play themselves in.

And if all else fails there's a few pretty handy Steeplechase and Hurdle Races coming up over the next few months!!!!

Yep,Highlanders deserve to march on.
Chiefs been all over the show since Cruden keeled over.
Chiefs did well to make the play offs really.
Was not too sure about the kicking plan from the Chiefs staff last night.
Shows how important a 1st class kicker is come penalty time.
Will be putting my support behind the Highlanders now,no disrespect intended to the `Canes, just backing the underdog mentality I guess.
See you here next season men.

Good work `Canes and Highlanders setting up a all NZ final.
I bet the All Black selectors are stoked with this outcome too.
So whatever the result next week, this means that NZ Super Rugby will have had 4 teams win the Super  Rugby comp outright, and all 5 Super Rugby teams make a Super final.
Well done.
The whole franchise will cop a great buzz with their 1st time Super Rugby title.

I saw the extended highlights of both playoffs yesterday.
The presenter said the TAB was paying 200:1 for a `Canes-Highlanders final.
At the start of the comp.
Big $$$$ if you had a $10er on that.

watched both semis in Vanuatu with a few Kiwis who were staying in the same complex.  We were joined by a group of Aussies who opened the conversations with 'what about the AFL mate?'. Funnily enough they didn't seem that keen to talk about the league either - not that the last three Kiwi/Kangaroo tests were ever mentioned!!!!!.  By the end of the evening it was smiles all round and only the NZers were remaining.  They only had Fox Sports coverage so it meant we were entertained by the Aussie commentators - not sure if got any air time over here but Phil Kearns made a few comments that raised a few eye brows.

Anyway great results, and regardless of the outcome tonight we are looking fairly healthy going into the business end of the season.  I'd love to see the underdog win, but 'canes will be hard to beat.

Great spectacle, great result. Highlanders full of passion and played for each other. Not sure we could say the canes choked but they weren't aloud to play with as much accuracy as we have seen this year and a couple of key mistakes at vital times in the game cost them badly.

The entree has concluded.

Well done Highlanders.
Poor/tuff night for J Savea out wide and B Barret with the boot.Happens to the best of them.
Marty Banks with the droppie.Great foot work by that young man at broken play.
Dramatic final.
I thought the Ref,touchies and even the TMO had a excellent match for a final.ie no one even mentioned their calls really.
The Choking tag will be all over Sport Talkback radio tomorrow for the `Canes I bet.
Certainly is some bad juju ongoing for the `Canes.
Should be a great tour of the Highlanders catchment with the trophy on the way.
Mayor Timmy will be up for it to be sure.
I have noted the bleating about the cost of the new Dunedin stadium has abated this season!!!
Again, congrats to the 2015 Super Rugby CHAMPIONS. The Highlanders.
