See video.

I wondered if this is normal with this reel or perhaps something is wrong with mine?

It still happens with the handle in another position. I've tried adjusting things, but I know piss all about reels so yeah. Any help appreciated

It's not a biggy for a straight vertical drop but any kind of lob/cast it gets annoying.

After using mine I discovered that the transformer f30c would be a better option. Mint reel for jigging but a couple things that bugged me. My reel was not that bad but just engaged occasionally and made a slight noise when the line came out. The suppliers were fantastic to deal with and would happily get more maxel products

Thanks for the reply. Yep I will have a chat with the supplier. So theres nothing you can do to adjust it engaging then ay? I thought it was the weight of the handle but seems to happen regardless.

I fitted a power handle to a Calcutta for use slow jigging. It was fine for vertical drops but you couldn't cast it without the weight of the handle causing it to kick into gear. It's gotta go in for a service now as there's a few bits of brass floating around inside My fault for messing with a perfectly good reel.

Done a little bit of casting with mine but I hold my thumb on the thumb bar with a bit of pressure to prevent that very thing from happening. Haven't had a problem to date..

Cheers. I find thats all good but because the bar is low you cant hold it down and thumb the line slightly to control the over run of line at the same time.

Schocker. Glad I read that! I was going to do this exact thing with a calcutta.

Anyone find that their reel makes a clicking noise on the drop?

Mine made the clicking noise. Not a biggie performance wise but I found it a bit annoying

found the same thing, I think the noise is from the clutch engage pawls, doesn't do anything to the reels performance. if I hold the straight or slightly tip the reel to the handle side it goes away.

The issue with the clicking on the drop is due to the pinion gear being too long in the legs...it is not clearing the shaft pin fully when engaged, can lightly file the legs to fix. The light clutch is said to be helped by replacing the clutch pawl spring with one from the Calcutta 300
