A question for the experts, at what point do you change from a floating lure to a subsurface or sinking lure? Dose wave and or chop size have the greatest bearing on deciding, or just the number of times the lure tumbles out on a given retrieve?

Floating lures tend to catch a few more fish and are more fun, coz you get to see the strike...  :)

Sinking lures are for, the water is too rough to make them work properly or you cant be arsed being careful enough with your sweep to make them work properly.

Or I dunno any other reason you can think of on the day why a sinking might work better.

90% of my casts are with floating lures coz, I like to see the strike and believe that the disturbed surface action of the lure on the water encourages more strikes.
