hi all...

Ive got a basic topwater rod...  topwater elite..   says PE 4-8
I will be just flinging a few sticks around at the Mokes and Brett area..  will sticks work better on 24kg?  and what type of braid is best for casting sticks/pops ?

Cheers... J

on my T-Curve Revolution sticky rod found that 88g orcas nice to cast and have an easy swimming action - love them

I use just plain ole power pro 24kg main line with no hassle casting - getting good distance, trace length was told to use 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 x your rod length that way the joiner knot is free from the spool when you cast and doesn't put the fish off

As for leader strength - depends on what you are targeting and also where you are fishing...

Rat kingies over a sandy bottom 20-30lb, big kings over or near structure then 80 to 150lb plus

if you after good poppers then try the williomson jet poppers.

I have 50lb suffix 832 which is nice to use. in terms of stick baits try the starwalker 180F woth inline singles I've found my BBE swims them nice too

Bbe cast and works the Daiwa dorado stick baits well, all the fish I've raised this summer have been with one, rigged with 7/0 vmc inline hooks. I just need to get the fish to bite it not chase it.

One that seems to work well is the 88grm Orca in green mackerel for stickies and the green Williamson jet popper (smaller version)
