Hi all, I'm pretty new to stick baiting and Tauranga but have been trying around chapel St railway bridge and also the railway bridge in town with not a lot of luck. I've had a couple of rats chasing but no takers as of yet.

Just after any advise on spots times and tides etc

cheers

I'm sure Ginga will see you right Wallopit.

There are plenty of fishing opportunities in and around the harbour, with a bit of time and effort you will get into some great sport.
They are great sport in skinny water.

Same as anywhere tide (water movement),structure or contour (sand banks/rocks/foul) and bait + persistence!

One place that comes to mind that has all of those and is very easily accessed is the entrance casting from the beach past the "warrior" on the mt

Have a look at a chart for those features if your not sure

at the moments rats seem to be all that is about, haven't heard any reports of anything over the 85-90cm mark being taken in the harbour.  I haven't even seen any green torpedos around this season yet, so have decided to give it a few more weeks before trying again.

With a bit of info from Jonocoogee managed to finally get one yesterday arvo @ about 70ish cm so just a pup but still cool to see. Then got another one of the same mold straight after then switch hit and nothing.

Seemed as though the water went really murky straight after my second one. Is this common or coincidence?

Ginga ill take you up on that offer and flick you a pm tomorrow arvo when ive put together soem questions cheers.
