Hi guys, I'm new to this website and am a keen Land Based fisherman. Mainly because im only 19 and cant afford a boat...yet. I am planning on doing a bit of fishing near Whangamata and was wondering if anyone had any good rock/beach fishing spots. I usually go off Onemana Rocks at the southern end but am looking to explore a bit. Any help appreciated!

Mate go hit up the Pukehina Rocks. About a 40 min treck through the scrub. Top of the Onemana Hill bang a left (before you come into One's). FOllow you nose to the end, park up and follow that track behind the sign there. | Cheers KingySlayer! I have always though about venturing down those logging roads. Any suggestions on what bait and rigs to use? I'll bring as much burley as I can carry. Also does it get quite rough down there or is it a sheltered spot? |

Nah mate she is exposed. Had a few perlas down there. Diced with death a few times. I love the stray line out off there and there is always kings lurking around that vacinity so a sneaky livy rig wouldnt hurt ------------- www.assassinsportsfishing.com www.facebook.com/assassinjigteam |

"google earth" that spot and go down there when there is an off shore wind(coming from behind the spot)......then you will be sweet.......easier to cast and less swell in yer face! SORTED Take a few piper and stickbaits for the kings...........a nicely presented piper is hard to resist for a king(when cast and retrieved)....Good luck.  ------------- Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens. |

| Hi @willfisher sorry I havnt posted a reply. I managed to get down there and have a bit of a go. I had a 1kg bag of pilchards which I threw half in and stray lined the rest whole. I slowly retrieved them and managed to take home 5 big Kahawai. I used a smaller kahawai (stray lined strips) but there were no takers. I think it can be quite a productive spot if You bring lots of burley and a range of baits. Also I think there might be a few more ledges/spots further south if you walk through the bush a bit. Let me know how you get on or if you've been yet! |
