not what you see everyday,
a view from the prospect of the Commercial fisherman working on a Asian Squid boat,
this will open your eyes,
there are about 48'000t caught off the AK Islands every year a lot caught like this by foreign boats employed by our Fishing Companies...

have a look about half way through to see them coming aboard by the hundreds...

The vast majority of squid caught is by trawler, mid and bottom trawls. Lots of seabirds and seal ions, fur seals get caught this way. Jigging is much less common these days, I remember as a kid seeing their lights  off the Otago coast. Perhaps jigging is more labour intensive? Definatley less bycatch though.
