| Was having some fun with casting a small(12cm) popper around local estuary flats, got a couple of follows though not sure of wether it was kahawai, or trout. Whilst i got two "grabs" nothing connected, don't think white with red head a go'er, put other colours might, anybody know of 8-12cm poppers available in nz that do work on kahawai? Keen to give this ago with whitebait season about to start. |

Sometime KY will take to anything.....other times they can be real fussy. And I think more often than not the size of the lure is often the critical factor....on that day. |

Yeah its that match the hatch with kahawai, but never tried poppers for them, wish i had got some of those little Berkley ones when they appeared on the shelf, now i would love to have i can't find for love nor money

River to sea bubble pop poppers, they come in a good smaller size for kahawai, are relatively cheap, cast a mile and are pretty well built. ------------- It is only my overwhelming natural humility that mars my perfection. Captain Asparagus, Superhero, Adventurer. |

| Check out Trade Me as you will often find some on there.I bought some very similar to those listed on auction no.763595569 a while ago & they work well.The same seller also lists some small stickbaits too.The hooks may not be the strongest,but it is simple enough to change them to something stronger. |

I've had good luck using small stick baits to target kahawai. Have had them climbing over each other to get the lure at times. ------------- What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck. |
