At the banks I would go with 80lb, the more strength the better, I get about 240m of 80lb M&w braid on mine, More then enough, I think a lot of the jigging in the banks is about 120m, so 100m reserve.  If you havent stopped it by then, you wont be stopping it.

You'll prob want metered line so any of Daiwa Boat Braid, Varivas Avani Max Power, Jigstar Katana, YGK Jigman. I would think you'd want 80lb minimum for Ranfurly.

If you don't want metered then have a look at SAS Braid.

Check out the Paulus Just Fishing site for some pretty extensive braid reviews

Dont listen to them...go the 65lb.  I've fished stren 65lb and whiplash 65 at the kings 4 times and used on every deep water drop.  It still anchors our boat in 400m of water when snagged. Pulled in fish up to 74kg no worries.  monster kingfish dont put up much of a fight compared to a healthy 18-25kg fish, your not going to snap 65lb.  HOwever it will snap just as fast as 80 or 100lb rubbing against the rocks.
That extra 50-100m you get on that line might just make all the difference in line retrieve when jigging.  Also less drag resistance bla bla bla...

My biggest bit of advice if your going to NOT use multi coloured braid is on you first drop ask the depth, then count how long it takes for your jig to get to the bottom...this way you can quickly calculate how may seconds it takes for you to hit mid water etc...if that's where the fish are obviously that's where your jig wants to be.

I have a 600N and got about 620m of 65 lb orange Whiplash (this stuff breaks at about 75-80 pound - tested on Kilwell's line tester). What I did was attached a line counter to my rod and then wound the line off onto another reel and then back onto the reel again marking the line every 10m with a black indelible pen and low and behold I now have metred line. Nice and simple.
I use this reel for kingies as well as deep water (350-400m) for bluenose it is awesome for bluenose as the spool diameter is quite small when 400m of line is out which gives you heaps of cranking power (like a low ratio) but as the spool fills up and the fish come up easier the quicker the retrieve. I can usually get a fish or sinker up a good 3 or 4 minutes quicker than people using 2 speed reels.

There is no such thing as best line....

But there is not so good line and good line. Nice to have the safety of PE8 for dealing with big fish, but really if your braid touches a rock under tension its gonna make very little difference.

Personally for working in depths over 120m ish in strong currents PE6 is the go, faster drops better touch with the jig and knowing when you hit bottom = more caught fish.

I would want a PE6 and a PE8 option for the banks.

Borrow one if ya need to.
