Hi all, looking to match a reel with a 100g Sabre game rod I impulse brought at the boat show. Tried my 3000 Caldia on it, it felt good and balanced but the jigging action/speed seemed a bit pedestrian. And yes I tried going faster. So I'm now tossing up between a 4000 Caldia (86cm retrieve), 4000 Stradic CI4+ (93cm) and a 5000 Sustain (104cm). Prices and weights for these look similar. Any thoughts or suggestions? A Stella or Saltiga will end in divorce! Thanks, Nat |

| Sustain would be my pick of those. I have the 10k for top water duties and love it, really light but still feels solid when you're leaning on a good fish. |

| I got the same rod paired up with a Shimano Biomaster SW8000PG. I was looking at a Sustain as well... Biomaster seems to be a tougher build than the Sustain. Goes great - landed a few kingee's around the 15kg mark no worries at all. |

Thanks MM. I see stonefish used an 8000 size as well, I might look at one of the new 6000 saragosas now, they seem to be in the same weight class and look pretty sweet. So many reels, so little time (and money!) Cheers |

The Saragosa 6K is a very nice reel and would def recommend it in that mid to high range reel price. About $360 from memory. I have been Borrowing one of MIB, it will be a very sad day when I have to give it back. If its in the budget I think you will be doing very will to find better. Not to mention a very nice looking reel too (not that it matters when it comes to performance.) ------------- TAS - Its a real disease |

| Go Fish in Auckland have the Sustain 10000 for a real nice price, its lighter than the Saragosa with more line capacity and a touch more drag but slower retrieve. |

Thanks for the input guys (back online after a 15hr power cut  )Yes that 10k sustain looks mint, I have a 10k twinpower I use for topwater but that sized reel looks way to big for the rod? I have trawled through overseas forums trying to find a consensus for this, which seems to be a 5k stella followed by a 5k sustain. I have been trying to find the weight of the 6000 saragosa to use as an alternative to the sustain, the local shimano website puts it at 595g, but the overseas forums put it at 16 ozs (430g)? I think the best bet is to head in to the local and strap both on as see how they feel, then order from Plat (jokes!  )Cheers |

Yeah it seems the official weight for the 6000 gosa is 21 oz or 595g, but punters in overseas forums reckon it's a bit lighter at 16.4oz or 470g. That's a big weight difference, and would help it balance the Sabre game if correct. I'm keen on the extra line capacity the 6000 size offers over the 4000 and 5000 sizes I was looking at (and it looks great to boot!)
