I managed to secure the dealership for Poseidon Reels. These reels are already established in US and Japan and extremely popular in Thailand. We have 3 models: 300R, 400R and 500R. The 300R and 400R comes in 1 or 2 speed, the 500R is currently only single speed, but 2 and 3 speed models will follow soon. All reels features HT100 drag washers, super tough Ti drag plates, dual AR bearings.

Is it just me but they look exactly the same as a accurate ? Are they just a copy reverse engineered to sell at half the price ? If so that's cool as long as they are cheap I would give them a go .

You should really set up a page rather than a profile, means you don't have to befriend everybody and then receive a stream of their inner most rubbish.

Boxee, thanks for the comment, its sorted now.
The reels do look quite similar, but they are not a carbon copy of accurate. Seems Accurate has no objection against them since they are available in the states. None of the Poseidon reels has the freespool button and don't need to press the full drag button in.
The 500R is a bit larger than the BX500 and the 300R is slightly larger than BX400. The 400R is the same diameter as 300R but a bit wider.

No stress, you'll be glad you did. Nice prices, on the 300 does the reel foot always have the protrusions or are they removable?

the protrusions are part of the foot to provide more meat for the fixing screws. its rather simplistic design... the 500R is quite different thou with the stainless steel foot.

Hey Atis, must say the reels look a million bucks mate! Bit confused about the max drag capacity. Above you mention 25lb max drag on the website link states 30kg which seem massive for a relatively compact dual drag system.

Agree with you Pete, i sent a Poseidon150 away to get independent review and it delivered 9kg of drag with free spool and full spool of line, so with a near empty spool and drag control done right up, i would envisage at least 20kg drag, which is amazing for such a small reel. Not that anyone would ever use it especially since you would be using 20-30lb braid at max.

Thanks for the comment, bit of a copy/paste glitch... will fix that soon. The aim is to use realistic numbers, not what is printed on the box. The small reels can do around 10kg drag. The 500r max drag comes around 30kg.

Pete, i use the Poseidon 200 on a Synit for jigging with inchikus, kaburas, etc but i much prefer spin reels for micro jigs, bit hard casting 14-30g jigs with an overhead reel and you need to let the jig flutter down as natural as possible which is not possible really with an overhead as the weight of the jig has to pull line of the reel. So much easier with spin mate and they are working well too

I've had a 150 for a couple of months now and was suprised to see the one tested only managed 9kg of drag. I have PE3 braid on mine as Its primary usage is a shallow water gnarly foul stray lining reel, the braid breaks at 42lb. These reels put out some serious stopping power. I hooked up to a good sized snapper, struck it, not realising I had gone past the strike button to sunset and just about went over the side of the boat when the fish pulled hard and I didn't have good footing. I have cubed up kings in the 80-90cm bracket and sunset drag will totally stop them in their tracks, they cannot pull line off.

Good to hear Shane from someone who fishes them hard. 9kg is quite a lot of drag for such a small reel though, like i said, Lance might not have had it done up to max drag.

9kg is a helluva lot of drag for such a small reel. Bearing in mind this was 9kg of real, usable drag with a full spool of line. The preload knob wasn't maxed out but it was at the point where it was getting difficult to push the drag lever to full, much further and you would risk damaging the drag cam, and I think the reel was on the cusp of the pinion bearing starting to disagree anyway.
There aren't a lot of rods out there that will lift 9kg without exploding anyway, people get quite hung up on drag numbers but in the real world I reckon most people are fishing (inshore general fishing) sub-5kg.

Agree, i fish 2-3kg when jigging for snapper and very rarely would i ever increase drag, might use a touch of thumb on the spool but not often. LOL

Hey Guys Ok I now have a few of these in stock for anyone in Auckland that is interested for a play, call in sometime, I have also serviced a few now and have to say they are Fantastic Value. Not an Accurate BX or an Alutecnos Gorilla however what you are paying for them you are getting a great reel for your dollars. As always Regular Preventative Servicing pays off with Reliable Performance. Neglect your reels and it will cost you guys Bigtime! No matter what Brand it is.

JoshW No confusion here, Antis imports and distributes these reels, I sell them and so does Kaveman at Retail level. Main point of difference is I also service, sell and repair reels for a business, so can offer unbiased advice and support after sales service for all my products. I also offer a first Free Service on all New reels I sell for peace of mind and buyer confidence. Cheers swordfishsteve

Just read this thread for 1st time. When Tica reels first came out there was a discussion about them copying Accurate's drag system, thus breaching copyright. Seems that Accurate never went to the expense of copyrighting their dual drag. Their rationale was that if a maker like Tica were to copy their gear, the 2 makers were not chasing the same market and therefore no competition.
BTW - My 2 Tica 30TWS have performed well, over the 12+ years I've had them.

Now these reels have been around for a while, can any owners of these reels give me an unbiased review of them.
Specifically looking at the 200R, but reports on the other sizes would be great.
Thanks

i have the 150, its a right pocket battle ship, am thinking about buying a 450 to replace my tyrnos 16 (livebait/trolling) If I had seen the 150 & the 200 in person before purchasing I would probably have gone with the 200 just for the bit of extra spool width and the extra line capacity that would go with it. in saying that I spooled my 150 with Gosen 42lb (actual breaking strain) braid and it took 220m as it's primary use is for stray lining snapper in gnarly 10-13m country. Since getting the 150 for this purpose I've only been reefed once, prior to that it was multiple times per trip. I'd happily have an arsenal of them in my cupboard haha. Looking fowards to smashing over some skippies on my 150 in a month or so:)

As Shane above says, he has the 150 but i prefer the 200 for extra width. 150 is very narrow and 200 has double dogs as well as anti reverse bearing, 150 only has anti reverse. They poke out heaps of drag, (they say 30kg but they are dreaming) we got 10kg of usable drag with full spool and still smooth as silk That is why i started selling them, pm me if you want one to test, we have a 150 loaner in Auckland that you can have a play/fish with to see how you like them

Hello, What is the retrieve rate on the 300? I'm looking to buy a slow pitch jigging reel but I need to make sure it has a high enough retrieve rate and I cannot find the specs anywhere online.

300 are 5.1;1 but your best bet is the new 50SL if you want one for slow jigging. 7.1:1 and the best of the Poseidon reels IMO I sold my last one last night in matt black, if you are interested they retail for $385 but i am doing a free braid special atm but only if i can source another one from the distributor

Thanks for the quick reply. I was also looking at the 50SL and couldn't decide between the two. What is the line capacity of the 50SL? The 7.1:1 is a great speed but I wonder if you lose the torque when you have a big fish on.

heaps of torque still, got a wicked handle that comes standard. it holds 300m of 30lb braid

I have sold lots of these reels, only ever had good feedback. Maybe JW will see this, he bought 6 of me for his new charter business and loves them.
Edit, there is some new models coming out soon, a slightly slower ratio model at 6;1 and also a star drag model. PS, I only have 1 x 50SL in stock , matt black with adjustable handle $389 includes 300m of PE2 braid(8 strand jigging braid)

I own 5 Poseidon reels now. 200r, 300r,500r & 2 yes 2!! 50SL... 1 run 20lb Tasline Elite other 30lb Tasline. Drag is bloody smooth. great reels, softbaited with the 20 using 1/4 oz jigheads lol..., slow pitched it. Dropped 100-150grm boss lures on the 30. straylined... why I bought a 2nd reel... Can run heavier line cause the drag power is unreal. Guys at Smart Marine were amazed at how much power they have...
