Got out yesterday to Flat Rock, launched about 6am from Gulf Harbour and dropped the Kaburas as the sun was coming up. Was all on for about half hour or so with 6 fish up to 10lb. Must have caught the last of the bite time. Went quiet so followed some birds and sporadic little work ups between Kawau and Tiri for very little until about lunchtime. Lovely day on the water, flat calm and light wind. Haven’t had many of those this summer.
Oh what a smasher - two eggs and a rasher!

Finally, the weather comes right and we were able to get out on the water again. We launched Little Blue at half moon bay and headed out up Sergeant channel to the middle ground. There were acres of sooty shearwaters mainly sitting on the water but patches of kahawai breaking up all around. We picked up some kahawai and small pannies on kaburas, then headed out to the Aahas. It was oily calm at times. We anchored up with berley and a livey down deep and fished with jack macs and fresh kahawai. We ended up with 11 snaps up to 43cm, a big JD on the livey, and as a real bonus, our fav sashimi fish, a couple of stonking 30cm plus blue koheru.
All in all a fantastic day on the water.

Out from gulf harbour at 7.30 this morning with a light SW blowing, mainly fished the top of the peninsula with micro jigs, orange was the colour they wouldn’t look at anything else.

We had 11 by 11.00 nothing big just kept over 350mm.

When I filleted them 2 had white filets, so their are still some crap around.

you have to remeber that they are feeding up big time going into winter, the white flesh is due to there eating after sperning , a mid to late sperning has a lot to do with it. remember when you were young d...k first food later, when you get older food first and a beer then mummmmm if i can.

1st remove neighbours cat.  Yes went out 2.00pm ,thinking this is not my most brilliant idea driving to ramp in rain.Idea was to go to Waiheke mussel farm but nw and out going tide made things uncomfortable. So fished in Kawakawa bay 3m,lots of marginal snapper released but kept 1 at 33 and 2 gurnard 38/40 so all is ok,Sunday dinner taken care of. Some dirty bugger littered ramp with snapper frames, not good when they could of walked out to sea wall.

Now the carrots have slowed down in the Manukau, it’s back to the east coast.
Launched this morning from Gulf Harbour about 6 and headed for Flat Rock. Couple of drifts for nothing so saw a few boats and some birds sitting on the water a couple of k’s back towards Tiri. The sounder was chocker with fish and got my limit within half hour. Most fish were mid 400’s. Nice
Oh what a smasher - two eggs and a rasher!

Out again yesterday from Gulf Harbour, early start and out to Anchorite to try for some kings. Took out a young fella, only been fishing a couple of times so thought my son and I would introduce him to jigging. No big ones but he got a few rats and absolutely made up with it. Picked up a few snaps on the way back and saw some whales and dolphins. Magic day out but the amount of boats out remind me why I usually fish during the week.

Slow day at the office. Went from KKB to wilson farms but decided not to tie up but anchored just away from farm for goldfish, went up deadmans pt 1 35cm and more goldfish with a small pod of dolphins feeding.
Around to Mania and got 1 more + undersize.NW buolding and needd cross back over so across to Ponui farm and encountered several sharks surface cruising, black ones of some description.about 1.5m from fin to tail.

More undersize so moved out wind in to Byrants bay bay and picked a couple more. No takers on softbait but anchovies/mullet/squid seemed popular,Fish still have roe in them,2nd spawn??

Week ago changed the tote tank fitting and what difference, first hit max rpm 5500,so must of sucking air

Most of the fish I hear being caught are in the 30 metre mark.
