Well what can I say ?? Yeah gentleman's hrs of 8.00am on the water,9.30 high. Tried Ponui Farms for throw backs. out in the middle of firth ,1/2 way to waimati island ,drift and still throw backs then a few sharks. Presume sharks as our little 6000 shimano bait runners werent stopping them, spoiled of 300m each then snap goes the trace. Rerig and same again.**** this, down to middle farm between coro and kkb, more gear lost but managed to get one along side. Hammerhead of around 4ft,then Thomas is on with something good, yep under size king, his first, gut hooked and cut trace without lifting from water, more undersize snapper,by now 11.30 and tide running nicely so back to kkb 16m mark, within seconds both had hammers on again, tail wrapped little 3ft ones,Hmm in to real shallow water,4m off ramp and more bloody hammers, one aprox 6ft and greyish compared to brown ones we seen earlir, got this one to boat after a battle and had to cut trace, could see line somehow got in a gap in teeth. Seem to be able to get sharks 1/2 way up from depth before they realised hooked then they were like freight trains. Did our good deed at ramp as child fell in and cuts from oysters so gave parents first aid kit, waited while boy sorted. Lucky no stitches required.. Roll on next Saturday.
