And a PS - worst bit of the day was a hook in the finger.  Havent done that for a few years.  As has happened before I was just angry so tweaked it out - then it started hurting :).  Better than a month ago when I got some snapper spine in my right pinkie, first knuckle joint - still sore

Finally got today.  s10/12 ponui farm on outside. fished 30m and had burley just out of sight and thats the depth we fished at. Fish on bottom well undersize,those that came to burly 38/40 got 9 and 1 undersize king and a bloody bronzie. Used tuna bullet for bait as was given to me.Works well and stays on hook.

Great idea there to separate the decent size fish from the tiddlers. It makes perfect sense , with the small fish perhaps being too scared of predation in open water to leave the bottom. I'm looking forward to trying this idea . Thanks for sharing. Cheers

On the sounder screen it showed fish at a depth between 5m to 10 m and again fish on bottom. What I always thought was fish at surface would be bait fish but no. What made me try was a ocean bounty series where they trawled the gulf.The skipper said rarely fish bottom as snapper hang out in mid water..
What I did notice was a brown type substance in the water and when it appeared fish would be in it,no idea what it is.
