Yes, the Abu t-alloys do handle kingis perfectly well, when the next Billy Ho vid comes out it will have plenty of shots of exactly those reels dealing to some very nice fish, but this is a shot of a T-alloy 2500 (I think) loaded with 8lb fireline....
Oh, rats, this pic doesn't have the rod/reel in it.... try this one...
this was just after steve landed the kingi, and Bill and Linda were getting the fish on tape. As you can see, the reel/rod set Steve was using was pretty damn small, and handled the fish flawlessly. It was a dagg to watch though, I was giving Steve heaps, and we were all well pleased when he bagged the kingi in some pretty sloppy conditions (coz it meant we could go home then you see)
The only pic I have of a T-alloy with a kingi otehrwise is a small rat on my t-4500, out of whitianga. Not much of a pic, but htis set got a lot more, and far better, fish than this, this year...
OH, it won't load, I will try it again later.
Cheers now,
Stu.
Oh! Fireline on overhead reels? Certainly. I have fireline on several overheads, I feel it actually feeds off reels a little easier than normal soft braids, I even had 1000yrds of it on my Penn Senator for puka fishing, but have used all that now on re-spooling my solomons spinning reels! It is a little thicker than a normal braid though, which is why I have tended more recently to go for the normal braids. But yes, fireline is just fine on an overhead!
Cheers,
Stu.
