These look awesome, the handle upgrade is very much needed. Weight of the 50w looks awesome as well, 500g lighter than a 50w Tiagra if the specs are to be believed! When will they be hitting NZ?

Why arent the X models pushed hard in shops as an altenative to a talica? i have never seen one in a shop before. i think they have the potential to really take off as some people just dont like buying shimano

Nice Jas, some real innovation. The drag position using pulled makes sense and a really significant range.
Will we see the entire range here?
Tight lines

We will be doing a full write up on these shortly, as Jas indicates will be available next month in NZ.

Widerange if you have an issue with your Old PENN International clicker then best to bring it in for a service and for sure we can make your clicker loud and working. Seam to remember it worked fine on your Huge Swordfish a few years back?

Hi ht - yip I hear ya

With these new mod's coming out I am pushing for a lot more marketing here in NZ on them. The X mod's have always taken the back seat to the SW's to being wider etc but I'm getting myself the little 12 and 20 VISX I do love them....

Hey Steve,
Na that clicker has never worker during my ownership of the reel seem to remember we've laughed about it before but despite services and "blue printing"...it's still crap
I've got a vxs? 50 (don't know if you've had that for a service)which has an equally ineffective clicker so assumed it's how they are.
As I caught that"huge sword" on a daytime drop the clicker wasn't used as it's more about getting tight after a bite.
I like my penn inters but tend to use them for bottom fishing more than trolling because of this issue
if it makes you feel better my experience of talicas is that they have a pretty crap clicker too, although they are just quiet.the switch doesn't jump out and disengage when an angry fish is pulling string.
Sooo,   have they put a decent clicker on the new models?

Paul , we can do a couple of things to reduce the clicker shaft bouncing effect when loosing line rapidly, clicker plunger moves out and occasionally turns off, so we can reduce the travel of clicker and fit heavier return spring, drop your reel off sometime and I will do this modification for free.
As for the New Penn VI series , I have not seen inside one yet, however had a good look over one yesterday and they appear to be a totally new engineered reel, so let's hope Penn have address the clicker issue, I will have stock of these in about a weeks time, so will strip one down for inspection and full report then.
As for your Talica Clicker crap issue , best to return to Shimano NZ for a warranty claim.
cheers swordfishsteve

HAHAHAHAHA
So what you are saying Steve is Paul should see a Dr for his hearing loss and dementia as he can't here the clicker on the occasions he does remember to turn it on.

"Don't take offence guys it is just me being my normal c#nty self, you will get used to it."

Ok guys, I have a new Penn 50 VISW here for anyone interested to have a look and play with, will strip and report shortly, they certainly feel different and 20% lighter than previous model, would think they will fit in well with Gamefishing season not far away, anyone looking for new game reels should seriously consider these as an option, cheers swordfishsteve

Hi Steve, Any upgrades or changed with the internals/drag? Or mainly just a facelift change with a new handle?
If you do a write up id been keen to chuck it in our fishing club newsletter as a few of the non computer savvy members would be interested in a read.
Cheers Tony, WSFC

Prettttttty sure these new ones use a thrust bearing assembly (a la Okuma Makaira) to eliminate lateral loads on the pinion bearing, meaning you can run tons of drag and not have the handle get stiff or crush the pinion bearing in short order.
