Once over the bar you will find array of fish.

Now comes my question. How do fish know when to cross the bar, bearing in mind over the bars depth of 50m+ and the bars have aprox depths of 5/6m then inside harbour drops to 20m+
Do they cross with incoming tide and basically pushed across. What triggers their metabolism to say when time is right?

Like winter hold Gurnard and as water temp increases they leave the harbour, what triggers them to move.
Same with snapper/sharks as water temp increase they enter the harbour

But seems to me kahawai there all year round.

Yet out East, mainly the Firth area,You find snapper/kahawai/gurnard all year round

Any logic to this behaviour or has it been studied.
