The Papakura was slow but steady for me with he incoming tide yesterday. Started up on the edge of the Karore bank in 6m for a round of Gurnards and then moved to the deep foul as the current slowed. Fish of the day was a surprise blue cod (second one now from the same spot in 10+ years I have fished it).

[QUOTE=SAND GROPER]Hoping the weather is going to play ball for Wednesday go and try to get some gurnard,
was out last Thursday but the weather was uncooperative and ended up just below the rapids out of the wind,
got some nice KY but not much of anything else

You can roll a turd in glitter, but it's still a turd

I think I'll just pay my way SG. Let us know how you get on. August is the most challenging month on The Big Muddy But Skoti got his PB in August & a 19lb snapper isn't too bad I guess Big smile

September is now the worst month for me Smudge 😂 I managed to do okay last week so I'll make sure I do more thorough testing in September to compare 😎

Nice fish Beekeeper. Been meaning to get out over the coast for a while but the conditions have not really been ideal for a smaller boat when I have had time off work. On holiday now, heading to Aussie for a week on Friday but will be itching to get back out on my return.

Around 20 years ago when I fished the Manukau a lot ( before moving to Whangaparaoa ) , August and Sept were great months for Tevally off Huia. I'm sure there were still Gurnard around,  but I was probably targeting Trev's just for a change . For Trev's , look for faster water especially if it is hitting a steep bank.

two undersized snapper and a good size shark, but jst the KY for the Smoker again,

was a beautiful day and the conditions were awesome, but not to worry

it will come right soon, away on holiday for couple of weeks so will be back out there after that

Finally got out this morning over the change of tide in the harbour. Slow fishing in 7-8m of water, but great results!
Kept 4 Trev's, 2 snaps and a couple of kahawai.
Not a lot of smaller snapper around either.
Hoping some kingfish will turn up soon.....
Some healthy fish with the biggest snapper and Trev going 45cm

Tasty tasty trevally

Nice catch! It’s been weeks since my last trip and fishing has been tough.

Glad to hear the water is warming up.
