Check out this awesome little squid!
I found it a couple of weeks ago at the Poor Knights. We think it is Abraliopsis sp which is a type of Enoploteuthidae. The same family as the 'Madonna' squid I have photographed a few times. This one behaved in a similar way, occasionally stopping and 'striking a pose' but it had quite different photophores along its body.
The only know Abraliopsis is A. tui, but this one looks a little odd with the photophore pattern.
Anyway, I am staring like squid and little octis just as much as fishies. We have been finding some many cool ones this year!
Thanks to squid legend... Dr Steve Oshea for ID help and super enthusiasm!
