Can anyone tell me where i can find some leather for making knife sheathes? Ive been making a few skinning knives but i cant think of anywhere to buy the leather from.

 Try a saddlery shop-especially if you can find one who makes saddles . They often have offcuts-as do upholsterers but there offcuts are often not heavy enough for sheaths

Im looking for thin leather really, not that keen on the really stiff, thick stuff.

If you are in Auckland there is a leather shop on Dominion that you can get off cuts from it is just past BK i think the shop is yellow.

you could always make your own leather if there is a spare caw/horse/kangaroo laying around

give the deer skin ago you never know it might be good.....kangaroo skin is thinner lighter and stronger than cow hide but you can get more out of one cow than you can one kangaroo......
