Az suggested we hit Kaiaua pre- Dawn on Monday morning...sure was a great call.
Epic few hrs of fishing followed , solid snaps to 63cm and a PB jd of 48.5cm in the bin by 9am and we were done.
It's an awesome thing when shiz comes together like that.😁

he he , cheers man.
I do cop it for my ice sometimes, I make it in a domestic bar ice maker.Wink. guess it pumps out a kilo every hour or so.
Use a very weak salt mix( hardly taste the salt) and can use it in the the ol'  rum n cokes too

The frozen cheezles work blimmin well skoti, oh and you know yourself that rum can be better bait than skippy or pilchards depending on what you are targeting at the time..😜

Thought I'd better drag this old topic up to do a quick report on day 2 of post lock down fishing weekend

Met up with Az at pokeno at 5am to launch nice and early.
Tootooed our way down the Firth into a biting ssse wind set the anchor shallow at around the3.5m mark.
Burley and straylines over and boy the snaps were straight on the bite..2nd or third fish was a nice 50cm .stoked in a southerly we were.
Anchor dragged and the tide slowed so we decided to pull the pick and chuck the drogue out and softbait our way up the firth.
As we hit the 4.5m mark the sounder lit up again and even the ugliest softbaits we had were hooking up, ( I rekon a slam bait would have even scored a few!)
The bite slowed a bit as it was time to head back on a wicked wee morning session.
Having not been out,but back in march we fished same depths for similar results happy as with our bin of super condition snaps
Cheers Az for the mission mate👍

Yip it is.
We like at least 2hrs away from low.
Depending on the size of the tide can do it closer to low at times

We shot out for a bit more punishment this morning before the nor'Easter got up.
Snapper still on the chew and also tinarsed a couple of solid JDs on Maccys over slack water.🙃
Back on the hard by 11 just as the wind was pushing up a messy firth sea.
Cheers Az..
Winning👌

Was a pretty slowing bite on the mussel farm area this morning for a look see.
Certainly not the signs of life we've had lately down shallow.
Nem mind still a
Decent feed in the bin including a couple of carrots.
Done an autopsy..one was full of tiny crabs the other had not much except a.decent size shrimp/ prawn fresh enough to chuck on the barbie it was.😉

Fished at the farms Sunday morning and lucky for us the barge was working. Limit in a couple of hours with the average size around the 5 lb mark and the biggest at 13 lb. Weather forecast was crap but ended up being flat as. Caught some fresh piper and man did the snapper love those straylined back whole.

Thought Id better drag this old thread back up..

Got out for a fish with Az sunday morning.
Really nice to be out there in great conditions.
Quite a meaty ground swell from the Nor nor east but pretty glassy on top.
Fishing was pretty slow with a big tide ripping through cleaning out the first load in the burley pot quick smart
Late morning with only a few 40cm pannys and a nice gurney in the bin a beast turned up..
76cm est 17lb a pb for the firth.
So made our morning and all was well in the world again.
Cheers for the invite Drakar1 ...let's do it again sometime🙂

Haven't posted on here for a long time so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Haven't been fishing much this year but when I have done I've been fishing shallow the last 3 times out on the same mark and each time have come home with all the snapper we are allowed. I have to admit that the seed for this idea was sown by Skunk who had fished shallow with Drakarand in fact on Sunday we launched at 7.30 in front of Drakar.
We headed into a very placid sea and motored to our spot. My mate got the first bait down to good sign on the screen, before I had time to drop the berley pot, and straight away pulled in a nice carrot. Things went well from there (sometimes frenetic) such that I was delayed in answering Drakar's text inquiry on our fishing. We had all we were allowed up to 57 cm before low tide so had time to kill before we could go in. We headed across to and even shallower (2.8 metre) Gurnard spot to while away the time and got another 2 and a few sharks. It turns out that we did better than Drakar so that is a feather in our cap.
Bring on the spring Firth of Thames fishing.
