Only a couple of weeks away & there are plenty of gurnard in the harbour, check out the Manukau Fishing reports page. Myself, Carey & Phil (we're a CSFC Nationals team that won the 3kg line class for snapper in the SFC Nationals in March) plus hopefully THE Manukau snapper legend Skoti will be at Franklin H&F store from 9am on Saturday 3rd June. Come and see us if you want some tips & tricks or just to catch up for a chat.

This year, can we purchase tickets on the CSFC site and then collect on the day? I have two boat loads of northsiders who think they know a thing or two about carrot hunting!

I'll do you a trade Martyn, I'll take 1st and you can have 4th. You will have to bribe Skoti with rum though! He is the Weighmaster after all Big smile

Joking of course guys, despite what one idiot on fb thinks these events aren't rigged - 100% legit. Apart from Skoti hehe

Saw that post but did raise a point though, most comps have the fish hanging up for all to see, stops any arguement I guess?

Got my crews tickets today to this awesome event! I don't enter many fishing competitions but religiously fish this. The reason being that it's a very even and fair format big boat, little boat, jet ski or kayak could win. Or perhaps a young lad surf casting the shores of the harbour?

Will fish out of Cornwallis but looking forward to seeing all you funny fullas if we have something worth weighing!

WTF?  What kind of fishing comps have you entered where they hang the fish up for everyone to look at?  I have never seen that done in a comp, and if I did I wouldn't enter.  You get your fish weighed and then put them back in the chilly bin, not hang them up to get ruined.  And for the record all fish in the grunter hunter, and every other comp I have ever entered, are weighed by the weighmasters in front of everyone and the weight is openly visible for anyone who wants to see it.

Standard practice at a lot of comps, fish hung up with tag weight, then actioned off and funds went to westpac rescue or coastguard.

100% Kevin, while we like a laugh the actual weigh in is done by the book. always. Always someone that thinks we're in it to rip people off one way or another.  If we make 10% on a comp we're happy. No individual profits from our comps. People get confused about insured prizes and those like ours where we make a very modest profit.

PJC, no one wants to see a gurnard hanging up. As Kevin says, all the fish are weighed in front of everyone who cares to watch.  Many do because they want to see what has been caught. Don't like comps? that's fine. Don't assume we're crooks because we put a little fun into our fishing
