Hi all, Had another good session with my Brother yesterday. Loads of bait around it wasn't long before we had our straylines out with our fresh offeringsBig smile I  went with big Kahawai heads as i was targeting a decent sized Snap for our two month Mokau summer comp. Mick had fresh big Jack Macs on. Hour or so went by before any interest then Mick hooked one around 7kg first up. not long after a couple more but mine had no interest yet. When running Heads youv'e got to expect bugger all action most of the time as only the bigger Snaps will take then on! Finally I got a screamer of a run, knew straight away it was a goodie! Hooked into it and played it in to later weigh. Went 9.98kg. got a couple more smaller we let go and then it started to chop up so quickly headed back to beach by lunchtime. Micks best went 8.4 kg. We were rapt. Pic- Myself holding best of the day..Beer

You may have to change your handle to Never Fail Geoff! Well done.

I trust you'll enter the Hirepool comp.

Great fishing again Geoff. One question - do you split the heads or are they used whole in one piece?

Here's a photo from me archives MJ, Still do exactly the same except I cut on a bigger angle to include more of the gut area. The bigger Snaps hit that area first! If you dont hookup then they start on the rest of the head. Many a time Iv'e missed them and all thats left is a tiny bit of gillplate or nothing. Also when a head starts to run you have got to hold back and let the Snap keep going xtra long before setting a hook as they a bit harder to chomp down than a strip bait.Beer

Hi Pcj, I haven't struck that problem, down here with mine if a  Snap hasn't shown any interest for an hour or so the snails usually cling onto them! Also Around the hour mark I will change it out for a fresh one if no interest.Beer
