Took your advise Alan and did a solo yesterday out from the Manakau. Straight out from the bar.
late start 9.30, a bit lumpy going out the north channel, water colour got better from 75mtrs green inside that.
A lot of birds at 75 to 85 mtrs flying around and staying in the general area, watched schools of skippies crashing the bait schools then gone a minute later. Saw 3 Albatrosses (they are big things). patches of gannets sitting on the water at 95 to 100 mtrs
Big skippy hit at 96 mtrs 7kg and a (pocket battleship) albie took a marlin lure 98 mtrs thought it was a yellow fin to start with the way it peeled line off and when for the bottom good fun.
Nothing else seen but a good day out.
The North Channel was a bit hairy coming back in, had to wait for the big waves to go through to catch a smaller one only 7 mtrs of water under the boat. the wave behind me broke an a wall of white water chased me for 100 mtrs (cheeks were pretty tight by this time) Good day.
