hi i am  having a look at my mates reel that he has broken its a big baitrunner lc that has seen a fair bit of work he has broken what appears to be a triple pronged plastic thingy that sits under the spool i have identified the part numbers he needs from the schematics as #3340   #7943  #5881  #5882  now my first question is what purpose does this thing serve ? 2nd question do you need it ? 3rd question where do i get these parts from here or direct from shimano ??? can any one assist . cheers mike

anyone with any experiance with these ? i cant figure out what purpose this part does and sounds like its commen thay break , HELP!!!

The Line safety guard travels with the spool to prevent line becoming trapped under/inside the spool. You don't really need it from a design point of view, but because it houses a few bearings and other pieces, from memory you need the thing.

I don't have any parts for them anymore, but if your not in a hurry google Mikes Reel Repairs, they are a bit slow but have flat rate shipping at a very reasonable cost.


Your just a prop in a jets world.

hi the angler, yes as previous post has indicated, the plastic thingy under the spool is a line guard which moves up & down with the spool, I can supply the new parts if required pm me for prices and supply details, or you can throw it away and see how it effects the reels performance, cheers steve
