Trying, seems nobody cares...Surely theres 5000 people affiliated with Fishing Clubs in NZ that might help.
Sitting outside a mall or something with an Ipad for those who really want to help...legasea groupies?
Media coverage would be handy, even a mention in some local rags would produce awareness.
Any way I hope it gets the numbers.

I have sent this to the Kiwi clubs around the globe, also we need to get the Tv show around the world, we need the media to be more pro-active regarding this -

Why isn't this a sticky thread? The home of sustainable seafood is at it again. Dumping oil and falsifying records

The managing director said "The decision was naturally disappointing but the case highlights the need to work diligently to properly maintain the required logs and records regarding the management of oily wastes aboard vessels,". How is the decision dissapointing when they were had bang to rights? Why didn't he say "I'm disgusted one of our vessels was involved in dumping oil and falsifying records and will move heaven and earth to make sure it never happens again." Their attitude stinks. This lot are taking the p*ss. The size of the fine decides how they operate not any sort of obligation to best practice.

well put JW,good perception. Serves Sanford right. The response of the managing director reveals a lot and says it all.On their website it says this. re their commitments. "protecting& enhancing the natural environment through active management programs to prevent events such as oil spill from occuring ".Some of the things occuring in our commercial fishing arena  are coming out into the light. More will come ,probably from the most unexpected sources.
Going back to the thread 15 years of rebuilding snapper stocks,Sanford said in that interview they hoped for the possibility of some more snapper if science said it could be done. (despite Sn 1 being at less than 20% of original biomass) But we could eat Hoki at half the price. Wow.
This could be taken to say. Let them eat Hoki. A few  hundred years back in France a certain lady said
"Let them eat cake" The rest is history

The attitude at the top filters down. Imagine working for a huge company where the CEO doesn't care what you do or how - just don't get caught. Given his attitude and what we saw about the way their vessels operate, this is just the tip of a very dirty iceberg. Watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen last night. Some funny stuff in that film and an insight into politics - probably not too far away from the truth. There is a lot more of us than them.
