hi All
I snapped my catana spin rod a week or so ago
Snapped slightly past middle of the tip section
I have cut a length off an old fibreglass rod and glued it inside the two halves: has about 7-8 inches either side of the break . The break is pretty clean and the fit of the catana over the new piece is pretty snug.
Been generous with the glue
Seems like it is pretty solidly stuck together
When i gently flex the rod it is apparent that the joine will flex disproportionately where the break is.
Obviously this rod is now buggered for ever, But cos I am a poor dad I want to try and get some life out of it.
Was wondering if I was to use binding thread and cover across the break then finish it off with a resin cover whether this would re introduce some extra stiffness and strength across the broken bit
I know it will never be the same but financial issues prevent me from buying a replacement just yet
Thoughts?
If there is a better way then i am all ears.
