Any one useing these for deep water softies. I used to have one but never used it for soft baiting and sold it because I found the drag a little light.
Swordfish Steve from F/net says he can beef them up so I'm thinking with the exchange rate being as good as it is, and they are on special for $159US. Sure makes it very attractive

I've got one and think they're great reels but not suited to my style of softies fishing. I like a thumb bar so I can drop the lure back and then re-engage gear immediately - with the SX you need to release the lever drag to drop the line and then reset the lever drag and as I hold the reel with my right hand I have to get the left arm to do all this on the rhs of the reel. It's not an issue if you only do it a couple of times but with softies I'm always bringing line back in and re-dropping - thumb bars are way easier! I also found the SX a very hard reel to cast (I have no isues casting an o/h reel) as the freespool is very loose - my low profile baitcaster is a dream to cast and has thumb bar.

I've had my SX pimped and serviced by Swordfish Steve - he did a great job but I haven't tested the new drag in anger yet!

Swordfish Steve needs to give you an accurate price but as I recall the service (needed a bearing replaced) and blueprinting came to about $100. I also got him to put 300m braid on the reel and I picked up a few windons and assist hook rigs, so final price was a bit more.
