Hi Steve. I've got a few Penn 50w's and the clicker isn't the best on some of them. Is there a mod or/and do they require new plates.
I've been told that the Penn's don't need the drags greased and have been maintaining smoothness by cleaning with isopropinol alcohol. Is this correct?
All the drag discs look good. Is it easy to tell when they need replacement ie do they start to look like a worn break disk or just glaze over?

Hi Krow
Yes the clickers can be improved with either new clicker pawls and shimming the spool, also I run the drags dry, however more importantly that you have the drag plates machined flat & smooth, I do this work as part of my Blueprinting service, which generally costs around $145 each reel + parts, this work transforms old sticky drags into smooth progresive reliable Penns that you will enjoy using. Best to have it done before the Xmas rush so pm or call me for more info.
Cheers Steve
