Hi Mods

Been following your site for 2+ years and big thumbs up for the site and all your work and advice. I am not a newbie to fishing, but in 6 weeks I`ll be a newbie to NZ fishing and as we all know, its being in the right place at the right time. I have asked around for advice as far as getting maps/literature pinpointing good fishing spots (in and around Auckland at first ), I have been recomended to get the spot x maps for this, not having one yet, my question is whether these also cover things like best areas to collect mussels, oysters, scollies, crays etc or do I need to look elsewhere for that info ?

Keep up the good work and see you soon

Hi RealStew, welcome to the site.
I know the Spot X maps are very handy for finding spots for normal fishing, and I am sure you will find it very useful.... but I cannot help with the mussells/scallops thing... I am sure someone here will be able to help however. Again, welcome to the site,
cheers,
Stu.

The spot x books do include some details of areas to collect scallops but they are rather well known areas from what I understand. Given I dont collect scollies myself I am unsure whether these areas still produce or not but they are prob good starting points.

They also have a few cray spots listed in em too.

Thanks Guys, good thinking Mozz. Forgot about the underwater scavengers, they would know all the spots.Big smile As you point out, these will be the most used spots and will be under the most pressure, somewhere to start and learn. Thanks again
