Lake Rotorua's surface water temperature rose 0.02 of a degree between 6am and 11pm to 20.6 degrees C. Algae levels dropped only 0.6 of a point to 3.0. The down wind end of Lake Rotorua will have larger quantities of alga than most other places in the lake. Barometric pressure rose to 1012.6hPa and humidity dropped 12 points to 62%. The wind is south west and has risen to 29.5kph during the morning. As at 12.20pm it is partly cloudy with a few showers. The outlook for Tuesday is for fine weather. Sunrise tomorrow is at 7.10am and sunset this evening is 7.44pm.

Lake Rotoiti's surface water temperature is 24.6 degrees C and the thermocline is around 14 to 18 metres. Fish have started gathering off the pipe and the point to the right of Ruato Bay on Lake Rotoiti and most of the common spots on the lake have fished well to the jig.

There are quite a few fish surface feeding 80 to 100 metres off the manin beach at Lake Okataina. A few very nice fish have been caught on a white booby off both jetties, though one needs to fish for a period of time to get numbers of fish.

There is also some movement of fish off Te Wairoa, The Landing and Rangiuru Bay.

Both Hamurana and the Awahou have slowed up considerably with the lowering of the water temperature in Lake Rotorua. There are fish still about at both mouths but they are becoming fewer and far between. The rainbows that are being caught are bigger and better condition than they have been for a while. Stalking brown trout at both mouths is still a good option when the rainbows are hard to find.

The Ngongotaha is carrying some colour still and has good numbers of fish. Wet lining is good option for this river at the moment, with olive wooley buggers being the best choice of fly. With the cooler weather of the past few days cicada has been noticibly absent however an imitation cicada is still worth trying.

The Whirirnaki has continued to fish well to the cicada, though most of the streams and rivers in the area have been very low and clear. Downstream nymphing is a good option when the fish are spooky.
