Lake Rotorua's surface water temperature rose 0.03 of a degree to 20.80 degrees C between 6am and 11pm this morning. Algae levels are down from 5.1 to 3.1, though there are parts of the lake (down-wind) where there are very large concentrations. The wind has been South for most of the morning but is tending south west and expected to go West at 15 to 18kph. Barometric pressure has risen 1.2 points to 1011.2hPa and humidity has dropped from 81% to 70%. There has been 1.9mm of rain this morning.  Sunrise tomorrow is 7.09am and sunset tonight is 7.45pm. The moon is almost full and low in the Northern sky. The outlook for today is fine and 23 degrees C and tomorrow is cloudy with showers and 21 degrees C. As at 1.11pm there is heavy cloud  and ocassional showers

Lake Rotoiti's surface water temperature rose 0.02 degrees C between 6am and 11am to 20.77 degrees C. The thermocline is below the 14 metre mark.

The Ngongotaha is carrying some colour and is holding plenty of fish after the recent rain. The Waiteti mouth has been quiet during the day, though there are plenty of fish just inside the mouth when the local kids aren't swimming in the river. The way that the algae bloom is growing, particularly on the down-wind side of Lake Rotorua there is very likely to be a health warning issued for this lake over the next couple of days.

Catch rates have slowed at the Awahou and Hamurana, though there are many anglers using smelt patterns in an attempt to entice trout to bite. An unweighted nymph fished off a floating line has proven more successful than any other method at either place.
