Lake Rotorua's surface water temperature dropped 0.1 of a degree between 6am and 11am this morning. Algae levels have also dropped, from 4.8 to 3.5. Barometric pressure has dropped 5 points since late last night to 1026.8hPa and humidity has increased from 62% to 72%. The wind direction has shifted further to the North and increased from 12.2kph to 34.5kph. Lake Rotorua's am surface water temperature has dropped in temperature by half a degree per day over the past 5 days. There is only about one degree difference in water temperature between the surface temperature and 20 metres down. Sunrise tomorrow is at 7.06am and sunset tonight is at 7.50pm.

Hamurana did not fish all that well yesterday. There were plenty of fish moving but they were extremely selective in what they wanted. I found that a silver dorothy retrieved at a slow constant speed (with the rod tucked under my arm) worked best. Some anglers were still catching trout on nymphs.
Lake Rotoiti is still producing fish for those who jig. Brown smelt patterns seem to be working best at any depth.
There is a howling gale out there at the moment and a low cloud cover. The air temperature is dropping and rain is not far away. As at 21.31pm it is 17 degrees C and we are expecting a high of only 20 degrees C. The outlook for tomorrow is rain and 19 degrees. We are just past the first quarter of the moon phase and the moon is low in the Northern sky after dark.
