I was apporoached the other week by a geyser that wanted to swap some of his lamb chops for some of my snapper, this got me thinking about a thread for such. As a result I swapped some kingfish for some Hapuku and some scallops for a cray whilst on holliday.

Any way my points are :-

1) Kerren, would we be allowed to do this ?.

2) Could we,  without turning this place in to a swap meet or bring and buy type forum.

Your thoughts team ??

But then if you'd swapped them 6 & 9 months ago then they wouldn't be ruined in the freezer would they

Great idea AC.....let me have a think about this one thou.

it could get curly re: liabilty and legality for the site if someone traded say trout or marlin via the forums. Both are illegal to sell in this country.....someone might be able to help out with some answers.

Is the barter system still considered a "legal transaction" and as such incurs tax and health and safety regs etc etc??

I realise its not quite selling fish, but would swapping it be somewhere in the grey area of such?
In any case I have quite a bit of burley in the freezer which I was intending to swap for some 20lb reds and 50lb kings.

I believe their could be legal implications for the site if Jo Bloggs was swapping more than could possibly have been accumulated within the bounds of daily limits and it can be shown that the site was aware of this taking place.

I have previously raised a similar issue with DOC/MAF regarding someone swapping (and selling) whitebait on another NZ site (but whitebait has no limit and can be sold without having a 'quota'.)

Cheers

Keith
