OK from a slightly different angle.

What works better for you on the Yak?

A longer rod that you can reach around the end of your yak with or shorter to keep the fish in close when you get them to the boat?

I am looking for a good rod to match with an Abu 6500 c3 and started looking for a 4-6kg baitcast rod with a trigger grip 5'6" long. Now this is a hard ask at most tackle shops.

Got looking on the American sites and they seem quite satisfied with a long rod.

Now I am not sure which way to go but have always liked a longer rod for castng but shorter on the yak.

What do you prefer?

Hi waka,

Look at the abu muscle tip rods, you can get a rod to match your requirements (for sp's etc I presume) I have one 5'6" 4-6kg with trigger grip.

Shakespeare have some 5' 6" rods. Not sure if they go down to 6kg though.
