Hi

Newbie boatie here. I have a Simrad Go7 and a Cmap M-AU-523 NZ Chatham map card loaded.

My home lake is Wakatipu and I get full details and depths there when out.

I recently went to Te Anau and Manapouri but those lakes weren't even on the map when zoomed in which surprised me. It looks like Wanaka and others are just blue with no details.

I expected/thought lake details would be in these maps. When I look at Simrad app on ipad or phone the same thing happens.

Are inland lakes not details on these maps? Are they just intended for sea? If so why is Wakatipu fully detailed?

The dealer doesn't think it sounds right but to be honest I don't trust them as I've not had the best experience with them and have had this unit replaced as depth wasn't displaying correctly.

Am I right or does my setup sound incorrect?
When on the unit I can pick the basic Navionics and another chart and they have Manapouri and Te Anau but no details but they are not paid versions.

Thanks for any tips.

Few lakes in NZ have bathy data for C-Map. Navionics has slightly better coverage I think. The best bet would be to create your own. You can record you sonar and then upload to genisis to create your own map. Granted it would take awhile to map an entire lake but if you do this you will have contours recorded wherever you've been. That way you can return to structure on your next visits.
