Hi all, this is my first ever post on here so hopefully the question is okay. Just really need some advice!I currently have a fairly old Okuma Predator 13ft Surf Caster (cast weight 2-4oz) its great but pretty lightweight and need something for more distance. Haven't been fishing much lately and looking to get back into it. Mostly around Wellington

Really like the look of the Akios Hellrazor, link below

https://lureme.co.nz/collections/fishing-rods-reels/products/akios-hellrazor-ss420-continental-surf-rod?lshst=collection

And the Okuma Nano Matrix

Does anyone have experience with either or both.

One better than the other?

Thanks in advance

I  am in your position also,
Ive recently replaced a 20 something year old penn powerstick combo that just wasnt cutting it.
personally i went with the daiwa Laguna and loncast crosscast 6000 reel,

Personally out of the two rod/reels that you have chosen to look at , I have used neither. I would hesitate with okuma as in my eyes they have always been a cheap brand and have failed me twice now in their trout reels. and as salt water is hard on reels, i dont want to be playing a fish and have it give out on me.

does somebody you know own one? can you try one in store?
the only real way is to read online reviews and take a punt , much like i did.

2 to 4 ounces is fine but im told its far to light if distance is your goal, i fish pikowai matata
and to get over some of the breakers a 2 or 3 sometimes even a 5 just wont do it.

i couldve gone withe a rod that can cast an 8 ounce but thats my next purchuse once ive got some hours on my recent set.
im no expert , but youve just got to start small and build up.

Id go for a 5 to 6 0unce sinker if youve been using a 4, this will be a good step up without being a to bigger jump and making you go back to your old set because its easier
